- 007 First Light will tell a reimagined origin story for the iconic character
A new trailer for 007 First Light shared during Sony’s latest State of Play showcase offered a deeper look at IO Interactive’s reimagining of the James Bond origin story.
In 007 First Lightplayers take on the role of a much younger Bond, played by Patrick Gibson, than the one we’ve seen on our screens over the past 60 years, and will delve into Agent M16’s recruiting years in what the developer is calling its own original version.
“We’ve created a completely original Bond story that stands out while respecting the character’s legacy,” said Yann Roskell, head of global communications, in a PlayStation Blog post after the presentation.
“In 007 First Lightyou’ll experience the pivotal moments that define the start of Bond’s career, the relationships that shape him, and the high-stakes missions that begin to build his reputation. »
The trailer provides a first look at Bond’s exploits in Iceland, his charming personality, decisive judgment, courage and ingenuity that eventually attracted the attention of MI6.
He is soon thrust into grueling training in the recently revived 00 Program and is soon thrust into a world of espionage, “where initiative is not always rewarded and obedience is often the expectation.”

The trailer then introduces us to Bond’s unlikely lawyer, M, played by Priyanga Burford, as well as the strict John Greenway, played by Lennie James, a former 00 agent and training instructor for the program who opposes Bond’s way of doing things.
However, despite their contrasting characters, Bond and Greenway are forced to work together after the reappearance of former British agent 009 and gone rogue.
As shown in previous trailers, players will travel undercover to various locations around the world, complete narrative gameplay segments, and meet even more characters, including the new Bawma, played by Lenny Kravitz, and the mysterious Charlotte Roth, played by Noemie Nakai.
“With 007 First Light“We set out to reimagine the origin of James Bond, exploring the formative moments that made him the agent players know, but not yet the legend he will become,” said Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive, in a press release.
“This is a version of Bond still untested and finding his place in the world of espionage, but already defined by the instincts, intelligence and determination that set him apart. Players will recognize the undeniable qualities that make him Bond from the start.”
007 First Light will launch on May 27, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.
