RAWALPINDI:
Security forces killed 13 terrorists belonging to banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in two separate Intelligence-Based Operations (IBO) in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s Kurram and Bannu districts, army media said on Thursday.
A statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operations took place on January 13 and 14, during which “Indian proxies Fitna-al-Khawarij” were killed.
Fitna al-Khawarij is a term for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban.
“In case of reported presence of khwarij, an intelligence-based operation was carried out by security forces in Bannu district. During the operation, our own troops actually engaged the location of khwarij and after an intense exchange of fire, eight khwarij were sent to hell,” the press release said, adding that a separate operation in Kurram led to the elimination of five more terrorists.
The ISPR said sanitization operations were being carried out to eliminate any further ‘India-sponsored kharji’ found in the region as part of the ‘unrelenting anti-terrorism campaign’ under the Azm-e-Istehkam vision, adding that it would continue in full swing to eliminate the ‘threat of foreign sponsored and supported terrorism’ from the country.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari praised security forces for eliminating India-backed Khawarij in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In an article on X, he said: “The war against terrorism caused by external interference will continue.”
“The war against terrorism will continue until its complete eradication from the country,” he added.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also congratulated the security forces for successfully carrying out the operations, adding that the security forces were achieving major successes against terrorism under the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy.
“The entire nation stands with the Pakistani armed forces in this war against terrorism,” the Prime Minister said, reaffirming the government’s resolve to completely eliminate all forms of terrorism from the country.
