Seventeen other terrorists were killed during a disinfection operation carried out by security forces near the Hassan Khel region, in northern Waziristan, along the Pakistani-Afghanistan border, said inter-service public relations (ISPR) on Monday.
According to the ISPR press release, the last operation took place during the night between April 27 and 28, after successful commitments where the security forces had killed 54 activists during the operations from April 25 to 27.
The army media wing said that neutralized terrorists operated at the request of “Indian masters” and actively had attacks within Pakistan.
The number of Khawarij Eliminated during the three-day anti-infiltration operation, went to 71, added the press release.
The security forces also recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives during the operation. The ISPR has reaffirmed that the army remains determined to secure the country’s borders and to counter all efforts to destabilize Pakistan.
Previously, on Sunday, the security forces thwarted an attempted infiltration of activists near the Pakistani-Afghanistan border.
The movements of activists were detected in the nights of April 25 to 26 and 26-27, leading to an extended armed commitment. Intelligence reports suggest that the group intended to carry out important attacks in Pakistan, allegedly under the instructions of external actors.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces for their successful operation, describing it as a strong testimony to Pakistan’s progress in war against terrorism.
In an official declaration, the PM Fitna al Khwarij Terrorists on the other side of the Afghan border in the Hassan Khel region of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
“The whole nation stands firmly with our security forces in the fight against terrorism,” he said, reaffirming that the armed forces of Pakistan remain “resolved in the defense of the country’s borders and in the eradication of the scourge of terrorism”.
