Islamabad: The recent pilgrimage of HAJJ 2025 was assisted by pilgrims with the host authorities of Saoudie who rush to avoid the more than 1000 deaths of last year in stifling heat.
About 1.4 million pilgrims arrived in Saudi Arabia before Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam which must be executed at least once by all Muslims with the means.
Saudi authorities had taken thermal protection measures – mobilizing more than 40 government agencies and 250,000 civil servants, such as an additional shade to avoid a repetition from last year, when 1,301 people died while temperatures reached 51.8 ° C (125.2 ° F).
However, sources in the Pakistani ministry for religious affairs said that up to 18 Pakistani pilgrims died in this year’s hajj, including 10 men and eight women.
The majority of those who died, added the sources, were elderly who died due to heart attacks and various diseases and were buried in Jannatul Baqi in Saudi Arabia.
The figure is lower than last year’s deaths from Pakistani pilgrims where 35 Pakistanis died by performing the Hajj in 2024.
It is relevant to know that in the context of this year’s precautionary measures, enlarged by 50,000 square meters (12 acres), thousands of additional doctors were pending and more than 400 cooling units have been deployed to facilitate pilgrims.
