Islamabad:
The Interior Ministry revealed Tuesday that out of 567 cases of sexual abuse recorded in Islamabad between January 2021 and June 2025, 200 involved children.
Responding in writing to Senator Shahadat Awan, the ministry detailed that among the children victims, 93 boys and 108 were girls.
A total of 222 accused were arrested as part of these cases. However, only 12 have been sentenced so far, while 163 remain underway, 15 have been acquitted and 26 are still free.
The Minister of the Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, informed the Chamber that “in accordance with the reports of all the police posts of Islamabad to (the) Surientant Zonal de la Police, during the period from January 1, 2021 to June 20, 2025, (a) 567 cases of rape were recorded and 625 accused were arrested.”
He added that out of 567 cases, 485 cases were challated, 80 accused were sentenced, 23 accused were acquitted and accused in 406 cases are still in judgment before the competent courts.
