Dreams come true for many NFL prospects from Thursday evening in Green Bay when the NFL 2025 draft begins with its first round.
Throughout the weekend, hard work will pay for 257 players, and many others will also be free agents who are not drafted will join a team in the training camp.
But, while the celebration will undoubtedly follow after the long trip to reach this point, the legend of Green Bay Packers Clay Matthews struck these prospects with a little reality in a recent conversation with PK Press Club Digital.

“What I found about the draft evening is, once you are written, everything that has led to this point – high school, college, whatever it is – that everything falls,” he said in the green room in Lowe, where first -round prospects like Travis Hunter, Ashton Jeanty and more will be present on Thursday evening while waiting to see for whom they will play in 2025.
Now Matthews’ comments are not intended to scare prospects. In fact, he considers this moment after being drafted as the opportunity of a life – proving that you are worthy of the choice.
“It is a fresh slate which, for some, can be difficult, but for others, it is an opportunity,” he explained. “So, I considered it to be an opportunity to prove me and many of these other young men will do it too. … Now, it’s yours, and you can control your own destiny at that time.”

How do you control your fate in the pros exactly? The transition can be extremely difficult for some. For others, it seems easy.

“You just have to have a good team in place. Meet financial advisers before, I highly recommend that to people. Obviously, people feel in a certain way to agents and want to represent themselves. I had someone who managed this and marketing. I made sure to manage my performance on the field, whether it was a training during the promenade when I was not doing Green.”
It will be a little eventful for these perspectives once they are drafted, but soak in the moment and really live in the present when they hear their name called is what matters first.
