18 months have passed since Max (which will soon be renamed HBO Max) has become the exclusive streaming house for A24 films – finally, in countries where one of the best streaming services in the world has launched anyway. Since this multi -year agreement was signed in December 2023, more than 100 films developed by A24 joined the rear catalog of Max.
You can also add more to this growing list next month. July 2025 marks the official streaming beginnings for three other new films from the famous independent studio, two of which only arrived in theaters earlier this year.
However, on the basis of their Rotten Tomatoes (RT) criticism scores, there is only one that will deserve a place on our best list of Max films. To help you decide which films are worth your time, I ranked the upcoming trio from the worst to the best. In this way, you will have a better idea to determine whether some of the new Max films in July should be added to your surveillance list.
3. Opus

With a star casting including the always joint John Malkovich, The bear‘s ayo edebiri, The last of us‘Young Mazino, and PreyAmbré in the middle, you may have expected Opus be a must.
Assembly a cast of talented actors will only take you so far away, and Opus proves it. A thriller based on worship that is no different from another A24 blow Intermediate bank,, Opus struggle to correspond to the psychological intensity, the narrative mystery and the horror blows that of his genre cousin 2016. Malkovich minces the landscape with a deliciously disadvantaged performance but, apart from, Opus is a largely forgettable film.
2. Death of a unicorn

Another A24 offering at horror which, on the basis of its own casting A-List, should have been better received than it was.
As OpusHowever, the disorderly nature of the intrigue of this satirical creature function makes it slide. Actor Marvel Sans Age Paul Rudd and Wednesday The superstar Jenny Ortega has the field of procedures with their dynamic convincing father, while Poulter and Grant bring a classic British flair to their nasty roles. These protruding facts apart, Death of a unicorn is a tonal failure that disappointed its potentially important narrative and thematic ideas.

Of the three new A24 films that will join the Max film library in July, I suspect that this hidden gem was the one that most readers would not have stopped going out.
With his perfect critical RT rating, however, Become a poultry is an essential black comedy comedy which is not only the first feature film in Nyoni in eight years, but also cement the Zambian-Wash filmmaker as one of the most talented of his generation. An universally attractive, beautifully shot, full of time and timely universally attractive film, the exploration of death, self-growing and community doubts is incredibly impactful.
