3 university basketball players permanently prohibited by the NCAA for betting

On Wednesday, three Division I basketball players were prohibited from the NCAA for betting on their own games.

Mykell Robinson, Steven Vasquez and Jalen Weave were dismissed from their eligibility after the NCAA committee on offenses published conclusions that determined that the players bet on the competitions in which they competed in Fresno State and San Jose State, and were able to share thousands of dollars in payments.

The three athletes have been released from their respective teams and are no longer enrolled in their previous schools. None of the two schools has been punished.

The NCAA said that the three players have bet on the other’s matches and / or provided information that allowed others to do so during the regular season of 2024-25 and that two of them even handled their performances to ensure that some bets were won.

NCAA said that a sports integrity surveillance service in January informed the Fresno and NCAA state application that a Nevada Sportsbook operator had reported suspect bets on Robinson. The investigation started a week later.
