Bajaur / Wana:
More than 30 suspicious terrorists were killed when an improvised explosive device (IED) which they assembled inside a mosque in the Bajaur district took place on Thursday. The incident occurred a few hours after at least 15 alleged terrorists were eliminated in an intelligence -based operation (IBO) in the district of southern Waziristan, officials and sources told The Express PK Press Club.
Sources have indicated that Pakistan terrorists of Tehreek-E-Taliban Prohibited (TTP) used a mosque in the distant area of Hilki Charmang in Bajaur, where the security forces are engaged in an operation to fight terrorism.
The terrorists were preparing an IED for a major attack on the security forces, which accidentally exploded, dropping the entire structure.
The explosion killed more than 30 terrorists on the spot and their bodies were buried under the rubble. Sources have said that TTP terrorists – officially designated as Khawarij – have used the mosque as a basis for their terrorist activities in the distant region along the border with Afghanistan. Local officials confirmed the incident, saying that investigations were underway.
Elsewhere in the volatile tribal region, at least 15 suspicious terrorists – including a potential suicide bomber – were killed and several others injured in a major IBO in the Azam Warsak region, in southern Waziristan on Wednesday evening.
The security forces led the RAID on the basis of an intelligence TIP on the presence of alleged terrorists near Karamzi Stop in Birmal Tehsil, southern Waziristan, sources told The Express PK Press Club. The suspects were locked up in the Karamzai Khail mosque, from where they have engaged security forces in a major shooting exchange.
The alleged terrorists suffered heavy victims during the fire, said sources, adding that a cleaning operation was underway in the regions.
While the fighting was underway, two mortar shells landed in a neighboring locality, leaving two men, because many women and four minor girls injured. They were urgently transported to the Wana headquarters, where the doctors said their condition was stable.
In the district close to northern Waziristan, two men – a police officer and a young tribal – were killed in distinct targeted attacks, distributing panic among the local population.
During the first incident, the armed men opened fire on the gendarme shoaib, which was deployed in Mir Ali Chowk near Mir Ali Bazaar, around noon. The attackers, who driven a vehicle, sprayed the bullet cop, killing it on the spot. The body of Shoaib, a resident of Girdai Dosali, was transferred to the Mir Ali headquarters hospital for forensic formalities.
In the second incident, armed men removed a young man from Mir Ali. After two hours, his body garnished with bullets was discovered in an abandoned house near the Ahmadullah mosque. Although his identity cannot be officially confirmed, sources said that it belonged to the tribal district of Bajaur.
No group immediately claimed the responsibility of targeted murders. Police recorded separate cases and launched surveys.
The father of the martyred cop said that his son had put on the police uniform to serve the people but was targeted in broad daylight. He demanded that the Government and the KP police service ensure that his son’s sacrifice will not be in vain and that the killers were brought to justice as soon as possible.
Local tribal elder Malik Abdul Rauf said that target killings incidents had become routine, leaving vulnerable tribe members. “The government must take strict measures to restore peace,” he asked.
Social activist Arif Khan deplored that the streets and bazaars have turned into a field of killers, warning that if the situation persisted, the local population would be forced to migrate.
