Although we do not know when the speech took place, the words that Eruzione told the American team are simply perfect before the championship match.
“When you put this jersey, it separates you,” said Eruzione. “This is a big problem, and you will send a message to how far we have arrived in this country and the type of players we have.”
The message was already sent to Montreal when these two teams met last Saturday, a match where three fights broke out in nine seconds and the United States team finally scored three unanswered goals for the 3-1 victory.

Eruzione, however, could not be more confident by saying that he believes that the best team in the world was right in front of him at dinner.
“You’re so good,” he said. “Kiss it, take advantage of it. Because it’s special. I can’t wait to watch you play because what can you guess? The best team in the world sitting right in front of me right now.
“Take out and show it and bring something special. This is something you will remember about the rest of your life.”

It is perhaps not the Winter Olympic Games – which will be played in Italy next year – but there is a huge feeling of pride that the American team felt in Montreal, and will surely feel in Boston Thursday evening when Puck falls into the TD garden.
