Less than four years ago, Brock Purdy was the last overall pick in the NFL draft and living with his roommates while struggling to stay on the active roster of the San Francisco 49ers. Now he’s fighting for his second Super Bowl appearance in three seasons.
During his rookie season, he earned just under $800,000. After a mega-deal signed last May, that figure rose to more than $41 million.
It’s a different lifestyle for Purdy than when he was first drafted, but he wants to make sure he uses it for good.

“I think in the first couple of years, it was a good transition just in terms of, you know, I had my roommates and everything, and then I got married and slowly, just, I was playing more, obviously, as the starting quarterback for the 49ers. So I was able to, in a sense, work my way into the whole role,” Purdy said in a recent interview with PK Press Club Digital.
“But more than anything, I’ve had really good people in my life to remind me to keep life simple, to not buy into a flashy lifestyle or anything and just keep my life simple so I can go out on the field and do what I’ve always done and play ball, keep my mind clear. So, it’s been a good transition, but I want to use my role and my platform to love people, serve people and, you know, not just feel like it for myself. So that’s exactly where I am. That’s how I see it.”

Purdy does this in part by helping fans win a Toyota Sequoia, his “favorite,” Toyota during the playoffs, where fans can predict a game during Sunday night’s game between the Los Angeles Chargers and New England Patriots. If the prediction is correct, you will have a chance to win the car.
The partnership with Toyota, Purdy said, is a “special” occasion because he was also able to surprise fans with gifts during the holiday season.

“Just for what Toyota and I, what we stand for, being able to partner together and then be able to give back to our community, especially 49er fans and veterans and kids with pediatric illnesses in need. Helping them and their families was pretty cool, man. I’m very grateful that we partnered with Toyota and that we were able to do something like this.”
