An earthquake of magnitude 5.3 shook various cities of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Wednesday, reported the Associated Press of Pakistan. According to the seismological center, serious shocks have been reported in the upper Dirt, the Chitral, the Swat and the surrounding regions, forcing citizens to rush from their homes.
The seismological center has confirmed the magnitude of the earthquake, declaring that its epicenter was located in the Hindukush region of Afghanistan, about 102 kilometers from Bajaur.
So far, no loss of life or immediate property has been reported.
It is relevant to mention that Pakistan is on several lines of active flaws and is located in a very seismically active region, making it vulnerable to earthquakes. Earlier this month, an earthquake measured 5.4 on the Richter scale, with a depth of 122 kilometers, struck several regions of Pakistan.
In June of this year, Karachi recorded a total of 19 light tremors, which is rare in the history of the city. The early tsunami alert cell Karachi released official data, confirming that the strongest earthquake was 3.6, while the weakest was recorded at 2.1 magnitude.
Of the total of the 19 tremors, 11 were recorded in the District of Malir, while the others were felt in the southwest part of Korangi and in the regions of northeast of DHA.
Experts awarded repeated seismic activity to changes in underground tectonic layers. These tremors were caused by the release of energy generated by the low -level seismic movement below the surface of the earth.
