Islamabad:
The senatorial economic affairs committee was informed on Wednesday that the National Treasury underwent a loss of $ 500 million due to large -scale irregularities in the DASU Transmission Line project.
The panel has raised questions on non -transparent tenders and the awarding of the contract to an inexperienced company for the plan.
The Committee meeting was chaired by Senator Saifullah Abro.
The organization expressed serious concerns about the key of the lowest tenderer without substantial justification and the awarding of the contract to a company that would have missed the necessary experience in the manufacture of grouping drivers.
Senator Abro noted that favoritism towards an inexperienced company has led to massive financial loss and strongly criticized the relevant authorities not to maintain transparency in the supply process.
NESPAK and National Transmission and Depatch Company (NTDC) officials could not provide satisfactory answers, arousing strong criticism from the committee members. The president ordered that a complete investigation be launched in the issue and called for measures against those deemed responsible. The Chairman of the Committee ordered that an in -depth investigation be carried out and measures taken against those responsible.
The committee decided to refer the case to the public accounts committee for a more in -depth examination.
The DASU transmission line project aims to transmit electricity from the DASU hydroelectric plant to Islamabad. It involves a 765 kV double circuit transmission line, covering approximately 250 kilometers, with West Mansehra and Islamabad grid stations along the route.
