500 tourists saved after the flood of Saiful Malok

Balakot:

More than 500 tourists were rescued safely on Saturday after a sudden cloud in the upper region of Lake Saiful Malok, especially in the Kundoreh region, triggered sudden floods in nearby rivers, resulting in the closure of the lake access road.

Quickly acting on the directives of the chief minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Ali Amin Gandapur, more than 500 blocked tourists were successfully rescued.

According to the Department of Provincial Tourism, the Cloudburst also caused a landslide along the Saiful Malok Lake road in Naran, leaving more than 500 tourists and more than 117 blocked jeeps.

Visitors had traveled from various cities in the country to the popular tourist destination.

After receiving the report, KP CM immediately ordered the Tourism Secretary, Dr. Abdul Samad, to mobilize all the resources available to ensure the safe evacuation of trapped tourists. Responding without delay, Dr. Samad asked the Director General of the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) to direct the rescue efforts.

The authority quickly launched a coordinated rescue operation, successfully relocating all tourists blocked in safe locations.

The KP tourism department advised tourists to stay alert during their trips.
