The Pitt season 2 (HBO Max)
Look on it
In my review of The Pitt season 2, I make no secret that this is my most anticipated TV show of 2026. In this one, we pick up 10 months after last season with the return of the daytime crew for the July 4 weekend.
Head Doctor Michael “Robby” Robinavitch is more grounded than his emotional breakdown in Season 1, planning to leave for a three-month sabbatical after the holidays end. His replacement, Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi), entered the ER with an agenda, hoping to implement permanent changes in the way Robby runs his department.
As you can imagine, it’s glorious chaos from the moment the emergency room doors open, and the stakes only get higher in the second season of the award-winning HBO Max series. By mixing its winning formula with new dynamic elements, The PittIt’s as strong as before. – Jasmine Valentine, entertainment journalist
People We Meet on Vacation (Netflix)
Look on it
It may not be a groundbreaking film, but I was incredibly impressed by People we meet on vacation. Adapting Emily Henry’s bestselling romance novel of the same name, one of Netflix’s new January films is the perfect reminder that the first month of the year doesn’t have to be cold and dreary.
The romantic chemistry between our two leads is astonishing, and who needs edgy cinema when you can be comfortable instead? Personally, I love that we start a new year with the energy that platonic love is just as important (if not more) than romantic love.
People we meet on vacation ends up injecting some romance into the rom-com but, for the most part, we follow two people who learn to love each other for exactly who they are, and it’s not limited to romance. – Joint venture
The Night Manager season 2 (Prime Video)
Look on it
Jonathan Pine is back after a nine-year hiatus and he’s hiding under a new pseudonym. But Tom Hiddleston’s beloved character isn’t having a relaxing time, as he’s drawn into an exciting new mission. It’s one of my most anticipated Prime Video shows of the year (it’s already started airing on BBC One in the UK) and I’m thrilled to see it return after such a long absence.
This time, Pine finds himself battling menacing Colombian businessman Teddy dos Santos when demons from Pine’s past resurface. Season 2 welcomes back many familiar faces like Olivia Colman, Alistair Petrie, Douglas Hodge and Michael Nardone. And, with the first three episodes of this BBC-developed Amazon TV show releasing on Sunday, your weekend viewing is set. – Lucy Buglas, senior entertainment editor
A Thousand Shots season 2 (Hulu/Disney+)
Look on it
Tempted to step back in time to watch a notorious all-female gang plan a daring heist, street brawls break out and royals trained in boxing in Victorian London? Steven Knight’s returning historical drama is the perfect watch for you.
A thousand blows Season 2 picks up directly after the events of its predecessor, with Sugar Goodson defeated, Hezekiah Moscow in a heap of despair, and Mary Carr determined to gather the Forty Elephants to reclaim the streets.
All six episodes are available now on Hulu, or Disney+ if you don’t live in the US, so you don’t have to wait to see where this next chapter goes. Just prepare yourself: There may be less boxing this season, but it still packs a brutal punch. – Amelia Schwanke, Entertainment Editor
Him and Her (Netflix)
Look on it
Netflix’s latest crime thriller His and hers may have divided critics overall, but everyone is in full agreement on its wild ending which I’m sure will be the talk of the town this weekend.
Marvel stars Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal play a reporter and a detective, both trying to solve a murder where each believes the other is the prime suspect. Whether their suspicions are founded or not is another matter entirely.
The six-episode series is an ideal watch because all episodes are now available on Netflix — and, given the talk of its big twist already, you’ll want to stream it all as soon as possible so no one spoils it for you. – kg
Tron: Ares (Disney+)
Look on it
One of the many films that exploded at the global box office in 2025, Tron: Ares makes its bow to Disney+ less than three months after its initial theatrical release.
Set 15 years later Tron: LegacyThe latest entry in the sci-fi franchise stars Jared Leto as Ares, an artificial intelligence program created by Dillinger Systems and billed as the “perfect, replaceable soldier.” However, when Ares enters the real world, the lines between reality and the digital world begin to blur.
I really enjoyed Tron: Legacy but, let it be the mixed reception Tron: Ares received and/or Leto’s involvement, I can’t say I’ll be running out on my Light Cycle to watch this one. But maybe you will. – TP
The Golden Globe Awards 2026 (Paramount+)
Look on it
Get your ball gowns and tuxedos ready, because the season’s next big awards show is coming up this weekend. The 83rd Golden Globes will take place this Sunday and, like last year’s event, will be broadcast on CBS and Paramount+ in the United States.
That said, you will need to be registered for the Premium level of the latter to see it live). Those of you with an Essential subscription will only be able to watch it on demand. With Nikki Glaser set to return as host for the second year in a row, we hope it’s another night filled with laughter and well-deserved winners. – AS
