After last week’s bountiful crop of new movies and TV shows, this week’s selection is comparatively smaller.
Indeed, by my count, there are only 12 must-see movies and TV series that recently debuted on the world’s top streaming services. So it made it a lot easier to decide what to include in this weekend’s list of streaming recommendations. So here are our top picks from this week’s deals. Appreciate! – Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter
The Conjuring: Last Rites (HBO Max)
Look on it
The last part of The Conjuring the series is now on HBO Max. With a controversial 59% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, although it might not be the conclusion everyone wanted.
You can decide for yourself by diving into The Conjuring: Last Riteswhich follows Ed and Lorraine Warren as they come out of retirement to focus on a case related to their very first ghostly encounter.

The Mighty Nein season 1 (Prime Video)
Look on it
It’s time to return to Exandria – but not to return to the misfits who play in The Legend of Vox Machina. Instead, it’s time to The mighty Neinthat is to say the second Dungeons and Dragons (DND) campaign from the popular tabletop role-playing game group Critical Role, to attract attention.
Taking place 20 years after the events of Vox Machina (For information, its fourth season arrives in early 2026), Amazon’s latest adult animated series will – like its ancestor – adapt rather than recreate the plot of Critical Role’s second year. DND campaign.
Following a new group of outcasts and non-conformists, The mighty Nein explores a new corner of Exandria and will aim to captivate Prime Video users with its unique blend of high fantasy, gruesome action, crude humor and trauma-informed storytelling. The one whose fans Vox Machina, InvincibleAnd Hotel in Hazbin will lap it up. – TP
Dream Trains (Netflix)
Look on it
If I said it once, I said it a thousand times: Form dreams is my favorite Netflix movie of 2025.
Not only did I have no expectations before watching it, but I never imagined that the fictional life of lumberjack Robert Grainier (Joel Edgerton) would have such a profound impact.
Working on the rural railroads in the early 1900s, Robert’s life is a cautionary tale of love, loss, and learning to live again. In briefer moments, Form dreams challenges the sociopolitical landscape of the time, and it’s something that weighs heavily on Robert as he gets older.
What’s most astonishing is how it subtly reframes traditional masculinity. Robert should be the ultimate man, with his looks and job superficially defining him that way. But when we see his vulnerability, his emotions and his open heart towards his wife and daughter, everything changes. Read more in my Form dreams goodbye. – Jasmine Valentine, entertainment journalist
The Roses (Hulu)
Look on it
Cinematic excellence looks like Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch throwing insults, food, and furniture…or at least that’s in my world. The Roseswhich is now available on Hulu (NB: it will be released on Disney+ outside the US in early December) brilliantly scratched the silliness itch in its first theatrical release, and I can’t wait to go back for a second helping.
From Ivy’s (Colman) seafood restaurant named “We’ve got crabs!” » to Theo’s (Cumberbatch) chaotic illustration of what it means to be a stay-at-home parent, the humorous details are perfectly refined. But that doesn’t mean it’s all pantomime – deep down, there are universally serious issues in their marriage that are being faced head on.
At the very least, it’s incredibly relevant, even if the film tries and fails to pass off Devon in the UK as California. But hey, believing in something that doesn’t exist, that’s the magic of cinema. – Joint venture
After the Hunt (Prime Video)
Look on it
On paper, this new psychological thriller has all the makings of an infallible success. With award-winning director Luca Guadagnino at the helm and an A-list cast including Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri and Andrew Garfield, it’s enough to convince a wide audience to watch one of the latest new Prime Video movies.
At its core, the film tackles a dark but compelling story about a student’s sexual assault accusation against a professor, exploring themes of consent and cancel culture. Despite its potential, After the hunt fell flat with audiences, with many critics taking issue with its multi-perspective narrative.
From what I can gather, it attempts to explore themes of guilt and innocence using conflicting viewpoints to highlight the complexities of such a heavy subject. But, for some, this approach dilutes its message. – Amelia Schwanke, Entertainment Editor
The Family 2 package (Apple TV)
Look on it
Grab a tart and fire up that new Apple TV subscription (especially if you purchased the Prime Video add-on in the Black Friday streaming deals). It’s time to really get into the holiday spirit, because this new action film slides down the streaming funnel and promises even more fun than its predecessor.
The Family Plan 2 sees Mark Wahlberg reprising his role as Dan, a spy-turned-dad who just can’t shake his assassin past. Now that the whole family knows about his violent past, it seems like a vacation to Europe should go smoothly…until, of course, it doesn’t. Enter a new threat, a mysterious shopper played by Kit Harington, who turns Dan’s world upside down as he attempts to enjoy a festive London and Paris.
Expect silly action and mindless fun – basically everything you want in a festive action comedy that will entertain the whole family on the Apple streamer this weekend. – AS
A Man Inside season 2 (Netflix)
Look on it
I had a blast with season 1 of A man insideso I’m really looking forward to diving into season 2. And, if you had any concerns, it wouldn’t be as good as the first one, A man inside season 2 already has a glowing 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Obviously, this is something well done, then!
Ted Danson returns as Charles, a widower and retired engineering professor turned private detective. There are also some big guest stars, including Danson’s real-life wife Mary Steenburgen, Constance Marie and David Strathairn. All episodes are streaming now if you want some laugh-out-loud comedy to carry you through the weekend. – kg
