The second unpacked event of Samsung unpacked of the year is over – and it was another big for fans of foldables and smart watches.
As provided by (numerous) leaks and rumors, Samsung has launched a trio of new folds. The management of the pack was the new Galaxy Z Fold 7, but we were also treated to more affordable alternatives in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 Fe (which seems to be the Z Flip 6 disguised).
It was not only a big fest of foldable either, Samsung also delivering the 8 Watch 8 series. Alongside the new Galaxy Watch 8, we also saw the return of the rotating telescope with the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, a smartwatch which also makes a very good imitation of a box watch.
But what has Samsung revealed (or failed to reveal) to what will probably be its last unpacked event of 2025? Here are all the big titles in a practical place …
1. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 finally brings a cover screen usable at the party
In recent years, we have felt the Galaxy Z Flip series has been a step behind the competition – but it finally changes with the new Galaxy Z Flip 7.
Samsung has apparently innovated in all the right places with its latest foldable flip, which has a large and magnificent cover screen (it is now 4.1 inches!) And a multitude of significant longevity upgrades like a stronger hinge and a more powerful exynos 2500 chipset.

To watch
The internal display of FLIP 7 has also been reinforced. At 6.9 inches, it is larger and wider than the interior screen of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, and as we noted in our practical magazine Galaxy Z Flip 7, this size increases “makes the phone feels more like a Galaxy S25 Ultra and less like a strange foldable in the hand.”
Other upgrades include a larger battery and improved waterproofing, but the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is all about the new display experience – the two screens are larger and better, and as a result, the Samsung Flip series no longer follows the tastes of the Motorola Razr Ultra.
2. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is an “ultra” level phone with a price to match
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 was undoubtedly the star of this last unpacked event. Far from being just an iterative upgrade, it was a global improvement on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 Excess, as we described in our practical Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 review.
There are of course the expected power upgrades, this telephone winning a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and – at the top of the end – an additional RAM. But Samsung has also equipped the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with a new primary Vivaneau of 200 MP and increased the sizes of the two screens.

To watch
Perhaps even more important, it is by far the thinnest and lightest to date, coming to only 215 g (it is less than the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra!), And only 8.9 mm thick when it is folded and 4.2 mm thick when it is unfolded.
But all of this has a high price, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 from $ 1,999.99 / £ 1,799 / $ 2,899 in – which in the United States is $ 100 more than last year’s phone and in Australia is more than $ 150 in. Ouch.
3. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has an appointment like the Galaxy Z Flip 7 Fe
For the first time, Samsung launched a FE version of one of its foldable phones, giving potential buyers a cheaper entry point than usual. But if you have kept an eye on foldable phones, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 Fe may seem strangely familiar.
It is because it is fundamentally just the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Again. It has exactly the same dimensions, it weighs the same thing, and they both have a foldable 6.7 -inch 120 Hz screen and a 3.4 -inch coverage screen at 60 Hz.
Their cameras are also the same (although in any honesty, they also correspond to the specifications of the standard Flip 7 camera), and the two phones have a 4,000 mAh battery.
The main differences are simply the chipset and the RAM, with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE having an exynos 2400 and 8 GB, rather than a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and 12 GB. The more recent phone is therefore less powerful – but it also costs less, from $ 899 / £ 849 / £ 1,499 at. It remains to be seen if this lower price will be sufficient to try buyers.
4. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 is thinner and more brilliant than before
It was not only unpacking phones – Samsung also unveiled certain laptops, including the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, and this is a new thinner 8.6 mm thick design, and a much brighter screen that can reach 3000 Nits.
It is not only the equipment that has been upgraded either, because the Galaxy Watch 8 also has new software features, such as Gemini on your wrist, and a new racing coach, which can put you on one of the 160 different racing plans.
There is also now an “antioxidant index”, which can give you an idea of knowing if you eat enough fruits and vegetables (although you probably know the answer to this already).
This is not all good news – our practical magazine Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 noted, for example, that the battery life is still too short, but the upgrades that have been made promising. There is also a new classic version, for fans of rotary glasses …
5. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is this year’s response to ultra
Last year, Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra, but rather than getting a new ultra model this year, we have the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic.
The classic has a rotating telescope, a bit like the previous classical models, and our practice of classical criticism of Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 was also taken with that. But it also borrows from ultra with, for example, a programmable fast button. And although this laptop is definitely dressed to impress, it is not small, arriving at a large 10.6 mm thick.
Most of the other protruding facts are on the software side, with the Watch 8 Classic Packing On-Wrish Gemini, sleep apnea detection and the same new coach application in progress as the Galaxy Watch 8 Standard.
At $ 499 / £ 449/899 $ in, it is a more expensive perspective than the Watch 8 Watch 8 Standard of Samsung Galaxy Watch, but it is also sure to run more heads.
6. Google Gemini arrives at the Galaxy Watch 8 – and all the smart watches wear the operating system
One of the great ads of AI during this unpacked event was that Google Gemini would arrive at the 8 Watch 8 series. And now, Google has followed this by revealing that Gemini take place on all OS WEAR watches, including those of Oppo, OnePlus, Xiaomi and, of course, Pixel watches.
This means that you can talk to Gemini without having your phone nearby, and will allow you to ask your questions about the smartwatch using natural language. In theory, you should also get quick and concise answers, but we will try to try this by ourselves before making a judgment.
Google says that Gemini will start to move to wear bone watches “in the coming weeks”, as long as your watch is being executed 4 or more.
7. One UI 8 deployment soon lands (for some)
If it does not feel so long that a UI 7 landed, that was not the case – Samsung’s point of view on Android 15 arrived as recently as December 2024. But an IU will soon take the stick at six months, with the new preinstalled operating system on the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 – which are both shipped on July 25.
So what’s new with an IU 8? As we have covered it in our recent rumor round, you can expect to see an audio erased improved, as well as several other AI improvements. These include a more powerful gemini live feature (now also available on the Flex Flex window of the Z Flip 7) and a better version of Circle To Search, which can use Google AI mode for more in-depth answers to your questions.
One of our big unanswered questions, however, is exactly when an 8 user interface will take place towards older Samsungs like the Galaxy S25? Samsung did not respond to this during his last unpacked, which leaves some worried that he can slip into a vein similar to a user interface 7.
8. The fold z 7 arrows the pen s
Another controversial news of the second unpacked from Samsung this year is that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has abandoned the support of S Pen. For what? All this is in this thinner foldable design.
By abandoning the scanner layer in the screen which supports the SMO pen, Samsung was able to obtain the Galaxy Z PLU 7 at only 8.9 mm thick when it is folded and only 4.2 mm when it is unfolded. For some, the lack of support S Pen will be a boring compromise, but Samsung clearly thinks that it is a penalty.
To be fair, the Z Fold series has never come with a pen pen, and it did not have a niche where you could hide one. It was also possible to use it on the inner screen of the foldable, rather than on the cover screen. But Samsung may have engaged the anger of power users who see the Fold series as the natural heirs of its former family of notes.
9. The samsung tri-reders is still not ready for prime hours
All the stars were pointing to an official teaser of the Samsung Galaxy Tri-Foldable, or G Fold as it was mentioned in rumors, during this event unpacked in 2025. But we did not even have a five-second trailer.
It was disappointing, because in recent days, we have seen the first signs of the tri-redable appear in one UI 8, as well as credible rumors on mass production from September. This led us to think that Samsung would at least start to build the media threw for its next big foldable design.
But there are also probably good reasons why he did not do it, including the expected exclusivity of the tri-redable. Not only is it said that this is prohibitive (early whispers predicted a label in the region of $ 3,000 to $ 3,500), but there is a chance that it cannot also be sold in South Korea and China, initially.
If this is the case, then a revelation at a global event like UNLEMATED 2025 would make less sense. But that makes us no less enthusiastic about the idea of seeing him later this year.
