Set of ring roads for modern youth cure

Rawalpindi:

On Wednesday, the Rawalpindi Development Authority (GDR) signed a understanding of understanding (MOU) with Mott Macdonald Pakistan (PVT) LTD to design a plan to use modern land and a corridor development strategy for the Rowalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project, where 70% of the construction has already been completed.

In accordance with the instructions of Noorul Amin Mengal, secretary of housing, urban development and public health engineering, the protocol seeks to establish a complete framework for the use of land and the development of the corridor along the Ring Road.

A meeting to formalize the agreement took place at the SEO of the GDR under the presidency of the additional director general Mansoor Ahmed Khan.

The chief planner of the GDR, Muhammad Tahir Mew, director Land Ghazanfar Ali Awan, director of construction of construction Samiullah Niazi, MP and TE Atif Mehmood Charthry, DRA officials, and representatives of Mott Macdonald Pakistan attended Reunion.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by the DRA -chief planner and MMP representatives, marking an important step towards the planned and sustainable urban growth of Rawalpindi.

The project extends to an 8.38 kilometers from the Ring Road with a 500 -meter -wide belt, representing the first modern urban development model in Pakistan based on an economic corridor concept.

The strategy is intended to transform the corridor into a center of residential, commercial and institutional activity, while also softening the chronic congestion of Rawalpindi traffic.

It will incorporate contemporary urban design, advanced infrastructure and the improvement of public facilities. By adopting international best practices, the initiative should strengthen connectivity, generate economic opportunities and considerably improve the quality of life of local residents.

The Director General of the GDR, Kinza Murtaza, praised the initiative as a historic stage which will reshape the city’s urban landscape. She noted that the project would not only provide world -class facilities, but would also contain urban sprawl, ensuring that Rawalpindi becomes more livable and lasting for future generations.

The GDR DG also stressed that the partnership between RDA and Mott Macdonald Pakistan represents a proactive development towards town planning and integrated urban development, positioning Rawalpindi as a model for cities across the country.

It should be noted that the RRR is considered a “missing link” in the city’s road infrastructure. With the increase in the congestion of traffic on GT Road and the city center, the road is considered the only viable alternative to divert intense circulation.

The road should also contribute to economic development through the proposed economic areas and help reduce environmental pollution. In addition, it will considerably reduce road accidents and ensure the more smooth and uninterrupted traffic flow.

The project envisages the development of logistics and education centers, a healthy city, the dry port, business centers, industrial zones, transport terminals, wholesale markets, recreational parks and residential communities on both sides of the corridor.
