The president approves the change in the 11th NFC

Islamabad:

President Asif Ali Zardari approved a change in the constitution of the 11th National Finance Commission (NFC).

The 11th NFC was formed on August 22 to prepare a new price to share federal divisible resources between the center and the provinces.

Predictive by the Minister of Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, the NFC includes four ministers of provincial finance and four non -statutory members, one of each province.

Its inaugural session, however, was postponed to the request of the Sindh government “due to the situation of imminent floods”.

“The change has become necessary after the Balutchistan government revised its appointment, recommending Mahfooz Ali Khan as a non-an ex-officio member in the 11th NFC. The president has granted approval to this appointment, replaced previous approval,” President Secretariat Press Wing said on Saturday.

In addition, the president also gave his assent to the draft law on criminal laws (amendment), 2025, as adopted by the Parliament.

The president also gave his assent to Pakistan Land Port Authority Bill, 2025, with his approval, the bill has now become an act of Parliament.

“The promulgation opens the way to the creation of Pakistan Land Port Authority, a statutory body mandated to facilitate the movement of goods and people through the points of crossing at the borders. The authority will serve as a central platform for inter-agencies, guaranteeing effective trade and passenger movements in land ports,” a press release from the Secretarial President said on Saturday.

With this development, Pakistan has become the third country in South Asia, after Bangladesh and India to establish a dedicated land port authority.

The authority will introduce a robust mechanism to effectively coordinate with border management agencies, will rationalize trade facilitation and improve cross -border connectivity.

He will also play a vital role in satisfying Pakistan’s obligations under international agreements and conventions.

“The establishment of the land port authority of Pakistan marks an important step towards strengthening the integration of regional trade in Pakistan, improving border management and improving economic connectivity with neighboring countries,” he was added.

In addition, the president warned the oil bill (amendment), 2025, as adopted by Parliament.

“The law strengthens the measures against smuggling and illegal exploitation of petrol pumps. It allows assistant commissioners, assistant commissioners and customs authorities to confiscate illegal oil products and vehicles, introduces computer monitoring and improves penalties for violations,” the President of the Secretariat Press Press Wing said on Saturday.

The legislation should modernize the regulations of the oil sector, improve transparency and strengthen government efforts against smuggling and tax evasion.
