New figures said that American PC shipments have dropped in the second quarter of 2025 while the market worked thanks to actions built earlier in the year.
Canalys declared shipments (excluding tablets) to 18.6 million units, which is down 1.4% compared to the previous year.
The slowdown was widely expected and came while suppliers have erased the inventory they had accumulated to avoid potential exposure on prices – and although the quarter has seen disorderly demand, the commercial sector increased by 4%, compensating for a mild consumption segment.
Slow growth to come
Analysts now predict that 2025 and 2026 shipments increase approximately 3% per year, the switch to Windows 11 continuing to generate upgrades.
Microsoft and its PC partners intensify the campaigns more before the end of Windows 10 measurement in October 2025, stressing the importance of moving to systems that can manage new workloads, including AI.
“The adoption of AI in the commercial sector has had a solid success in the United States,” said Greg Davis, analyst at Canalys.
“According to the Us Census Business Trends and Outlook Survey, Business Adoption of Ai has more than doubled Over the Last Two Years and Seen A 50% Increase in Use This Year Alone. However, This Summer, We have Seen that the Growth Rate has slightly for large business Getting Stuck in Pilot Purgatory Grew.
However, Davis has added that many consumers are still hesitating.
“Between persistent inflation and low employment reports in recent months, more and more consumers have cautious spending, and premium electronics are not favored as much as essential elements such as food and energy expenditure. Despite approaches to the end of the end of the end of care and growing conscience, consumers in the United States are more willing to wait.”
Apple grew up the fastest among the main suppliers in the second quarter, up 15.5% over a year, while Lenovo increased by 5.1%. HP and Dell both saw drops, lowering 4.8% and 3.5% respectively. Acer’s expeditions have dropped more heavily to 10.5%.
Canalys provides that commercial shipments continue to increase in 2026, while consumer demand can fluctuate more strongly depending on the economy.
