SMEG has launched a new espresso machine that can brew hot and cold, producing a single cold extracted blow in just two minutes.
The ECF03 SMEG is the latest addition to the company’s range of espresso manufacturers, seated alongside Smeg Mini Pro and BCC13, but with a winding form from the 60s and a choice of six colors.
Make your choice compared to classic red, white and black, or opt for pastel cream, pale blue or cream – soft colors inspired by gelato which are one of the biggest trends in the kitchen at the moment.
Kitchenaid launched the vogue for candy appliances in candy colored when he revealed a creamy bottles like his official shade of 2025, and the trend shows no signs of slowdown, with brands such as Nespresso, Breville and De’Longhi joining all.
The ECF03 is designed to be accessible for new users, while giving more experienced baristas at home the possibility of tinkering with brewing settings to respond to their chosen tastes and beans.
The machine is delivered with pressure filters that forgive if your coffee is not perfectly crushed, and will always allow beginners to reach a well -extracted shooting with a lot of Crema, as well as unique wall filters for users with more experience and a good quality coffee grinder at their disposal.
There are also three temperature parameters, including a slightly fresher option for light roasts, and a higher to extract the full flavor from rich and rich roasts.
Pressing the cold button of the ECF03 will bypass its thermobloc heating system and extract your espresso using water at room temperature directly from the tank. It takes a little more time (two minutes for a single espresso blow, or four minutes for a double), but is always much faster than preparing the cold in the traditional way by dipping the chopped coffee in cold water during the night.
SMEG promises that the flavor profile will be similar to the old -fashioned cold infusion, with a softer taste and less acidity than the espresso extracted with hot water.
The ECF03 SMEG is available now directly from SMEG and third -party retailers for £ 499.95 (around $ 670 / $ 1,020 at). It is towards the upper end of the scale for a machine of this type, but depending on the past experience, I can say that you not only pay a premium for elegant looks of the machine, but also the solid quality of rock.
I will test the ECF03 to see how it compared to the best coffee makers available now, and will soon bring you a full opinion.
