During a new conversation with PEOPLE Magazine has Wall Street Journal CMO SummitTHE dead Pool The star shared that he uses humor as a strategy.

“Well, humor and emotion are the two feelings that I think travel the most,” he said.

Reynolds explained that both tools work because they break down barriers and disarm audiences, but when combined, they create messages that feel human and memorable rather than transactional.

“Humor works so well, and so does emotion. But if you put them together, it really, really creates a sense of unity. It creates this feeling that we’re okay now, that we’re not divided.”

He also reflected on the meaningful advice he received from famed screenwriter Richard Curtis that still shapes the way he writes and performs today.

“He said every character should have a beginning, a middle and an end. [The advice] I really just kind of got stuck with myself,” Reynolds explained.
