Founder of Larian Studios and Baldur’s Gate 3 director, Swen Vincke, said Divinity will feature cutscenes unlike previous iterations of the series.
Speaking in an interview with IGN following this stunning Divinity unveiling the trailer at the Game Awards, remembers Vincke BG3 and shared the key lessons the team has learned since the game’s massive success.
“One of the biggest lessons was the success of cutscenes – and how we present story and choices,” Vincke revealed. “Obviously we did a lot of things differently in BG3 that we did it with Divinity: Original Sin 2and this match was much better, I think.”
Cutscenes were not shown in Divinity: Original Sin Or Original sin 2And BG3The story cutscenes, which also showed player choices and character interactions, were a first for Larian.
“But the thing is, when people started seeing the choices in the movies, what impact did that have on the players, how they relate to the characters, and the attractions and the choices in the game,” he added. “So I think that’s probably my biggest takeaway from everything, yeah, of course.”
In the same interview, Vincke confirmed that the game has been in development for two years and is now in full production. The director also stated that Divinity will “most likely” receive an early access period as BG3but says Larian is not at that stage yet.
“I don’t want to commit to it right now, because we don’t know how the gaming industry will change. We’re not ready to do anything yet in terms of early access, but I think it’s worked well for us in the past,” Vincke explained.
“We’ve had the gaming community and their feedback, and it’s made all of our Early Access games a lot better. So yeah, I think we’d really like to do that again. But that said, we don’t want too many people playing Early Access, because we have to ‘cook’ and it’s still a development period. So that might be a little problematic, but we’ll see.”
