Pluribus Season 2 is officially in the works, Carol. The popular sci-fi crime drama received a two-season order in September 2022, and work on the next entry has been underway for – at the time of publication – just over a month, with the writers’ room reassembled in November 2025.
Pluribus season 2 release date: what we know so far
Pluribus the release date for season 2 has not yet been revealed. However, as I mentioned above, Apple gave the series a two-season order when it won the rights to Vince Gilligan’s latest TV creation in September 2022. We’ve known for over three years now that another chapter would be written.
It doesn’t look like we’ll see it for a long time, though. Speaking to RadioTimes.com in November 2025, Gilligan said the writing team would meet later in the month to begin work on his scripts.
Until these are drawn up and signed, filming cannot begin. The best case scenario in my eyes? For a production of this size, if the scripts are completed early next year, principal photography can begin in mid to late 2026. So, at the earliest, Season 2 will launch between late 2027 and early 2028.
Pluribus season 2 trailer: is there one?
No. Given that cameras haven’t even started rolling on season 2 yet, there won’t be one for a long time either.
Once a trailer is finally released, I’ll update this section, but don’t expect that to happen until 2027.
Probable casting for season 2 of Pluribus
Spoilers follow for Pluribus season 1.
Here’s who I expect to see again Pluribus season 2:
- Rhea Seehorn as Carol Sturka
- Karolina Wydra as Zosia
- Carlos Manuel Vesga as Manousos Oviedo
- Samba Schutte as Koumba Diabaté
- Menik Gooneratne as Laxmi
- Darinka Arones as Kusimayu
The first three people are key players in Pluribus. Meanwhile, the latter trio appeared sporadically throughout its first season, and I would expect them to do so again next time around.
There could be new additions to the cast of one of the best Apple TV shows in season 2, but a lot depends on the story Gilligan and company want to tell. Until firm details are revealed on this front, we can’t say if his ensemble will expand in the next installment.
For what it’s worth, Seehorn told Variety that she wanted to see two actors in Pluribus: Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley. Seehorn’s ironic reason? So she can “force them to be friends with me.” Make it happen, Gilligan.
Speculation on the story of Pluribus season 2
Full spoilers follow for Pluribus‘ first season.
Unsurprisingly, Pluribus The plot summary for season 2 has not yet been released. If you want to know more about the story threads, however, you’ll have to approach my spoiler-filled thread. Pluribus The explained piece at the end of season 1 is a good place to start.
Gilligan and company will surely have more to say about Season 1 Episode 9, as well as where next season’s story is headed. However, as I write this guide in mid-December – and therefore before Pluribus‘ season 1 finale and the 2025 holidays – I’m not able to include quotes from the cast and crew about what might lie ahead for Carol, Zosia and Manousos.
Once I return in 2026, I will update this section with anything interesting I can find.
Will there be a third season of Pluribus?
The short answer is: we don’t know. Nonetheless, Gilligan expressed his desire for additional payments if Pluribus continues to be one of Apple’s most-watched original TVs.
Speaking to Variety, Gilligan admitted he could see it lasting four seasons. However, citing one of his other critically acclaimed series, Break the bad – which was originally scheduled to end after three hours, but lasted six years – as an example of how such plans can change, he said Pluribus can last longer.
Ultimately, Gilligan added, it would depend on lead star Rhea Seehorn’s desire to continue telling Carol’s story. In her own conversation with Variety, Seehorn admitted that she would like the series to last 10 seasons, before jokingly adding “or whatever I can force Vince to do.”
Of course, depending on the popularity of the series and/or production costs, Apple will also be a determining factor in whether more seasons are needed. For now we know Pluribus season 2 will be made, but no one knows if a third and fourth will follow.
