More than half (52%) of UK job seekers have used artificial intelligence to improve and refine their CV – a figure that rises to around two thirds (65%) among Gen Z job seekers , according to a new study.
Canva results showed that most (91%) hiring managers agree that a strong digital professional brand gives candidates a greater advantage.
Recruiters are also significantly more accepting of AI-powered CVs than before, with 97% of UK candidates using technical landing interviews.
AI plays a growing role in recruiting
On the other side of the process, nine in ten hiring managers say they have used AI to help them hire new employees, including summarizing resumes (38%) and screening applications (36%).
Despite this acceptance, three in five hiring managers (63%) still believe candidates should disclose their use of AI. Candidate transparency during the interview can give recruiters a taste of their ethics and soft skills.
While AI can help workers quickly produce more effective resumes, HR teams expect more from candidates, including portfolios showcasing their work (80%) and interactive resumes (71%).
More generally, hiring managers expect candidates to have an online presence: 93% value job seekers who have an established online presence relevant to their career.
As the global skills shortage persists, it’s clear that candidates need to add extra layers to their applications and personal brand in order to be considered for new positions.
“However, by leveraging social media, design tools, and adopting AI, job seekers are opening up new opportunities to get noticed. Managing a Professional Brand and Designing a Visual Resume have become essential steps to getting your dream job,” Faye Longhurst, Canva Regional Manager. commented.
