- Wildlight Entertainment has announced a new High Guard updated content following mass layoffs and website issues
- The patch adds brand new features, like a base and a powerful raid tool.
- The studio also announced that a new Raid mode was in the works.
Despite recent website issues, Wildlight Entertainment has confirmed that High Guard is still alive with the announcement of a new content update.
Earlier this week, High Guard‘s official website appeared to be down, leading to speculation of the worst just days after the studio was hit with massive layoffs. However, the developer has now assured fans that the first-person shooter isn’t going anywhere and has released a new patch that adds all the features.
“This patch is purely content-driven, with a brand new base and powerful new raid tool added to the game, as well as new offerings in the store,” Wildlight said on X.
The studio also teased a new raid mode that will arrive in an upcoming patch: “We are also working on our next patch, the aim of which is to bring a new game mode focused on the Raid experience, as well as some weapon balancing adjustments, among other things.”
The new base available is called Cloudreach and features a large airship docked above ground, with the anchor stone in the hold of the ship itself, allowing players a higher vantage point.
The new Lockpick Raid tool can be used to quickly fire darts that open doors and windows, temporarily disabling them for the enemy and giving control to the player’s team.
It also has a purple variant upgrade, which can project an energy field into the hooked door or window.
“For teammates, crossing it gives a short speed boost. For enemies, it delivers a small zap that damages them, slows them down, and highlights them for a very short time,” Wildlight explained.
There are also plenty of new offerings in the Trading Post, including a new Moonbruin mount and a series of Wayfinder packs. Trader Flynn will additionally offer seven items each week instead of five, although some will be repeats from previous weeks, allowing players to earn rewards they might have missed.
Following mass layoffs at Wildlight, which came just two weeks after its live game launched, the studio has confirmed that a “core group of developers” will continue to work on High Guard. It is unclear how many people are included in this group.
