Viral Monkey Punch makes a worldwide splash with IKEA toys: here’s what it costs

A seven-month-old Japanese macaque named Punch has won hearts around the world. But another thing that caught the eye was his famous stuffed animal.

The toy identified as the DJUNGELSKOG orangutan, a cuddly soft toy from IKEA’s wildlife-themed children’s range, featuring long, flexible arms designed to mimic real monkeys.

The connection with the Punch triggered an increase in demand.

Punch was abandoned by his mother after his birth in July 2025 at the zoo in the city of Ichikawa, near Tokyo.

To cope with loneliness and abandonment, zookeepers introduced a stuffed animal as a source of emotional security.

Since then, the baby monkey has developed a deep attachment with the orange orangutan, constantly clinging to him as he eats, rests and explores his enclosure.

The DJUNGELSKOG Orangutan costs around $19.99 in the United States, although prices from online retailers fluctuate based on demand.

The orangutan version measures approximately 66cm long and is made primarily from polyester fiber, with embroidered details on the face for added safety and durability.

The DJUNGELSKOG line itself has become one of IKEA’s most recognizable plush collections worldwide, alongside other internet-famous toys such as its shark plush.

The orangutan version measures approximately 26 inches long and is made primarily from polyester fiber, with embroidered facial features designed for safety and durability.

After toy sales increased, IKEA representatives visited the zoo and donated several toys to ensure that the baby monkey always had a companion.

Fans affectionately nicknamed the toy “Oran-Mama.”
