King Charles and Queen Camilla have made a new appointment, tapping veteran royal correspondent Rhiannon Mills as communications secretary.
After more than a decade reporting on the royal family, Mills is now moving behind the palace doors, moving from covering the monarchy to how it speaks to the world.
At 46, she arrives with extensive global experience and a reputation for insight, calm and quick thinking under pressure.
Her new role will see her oversee official messaging, manage major announcements and help coordinate high-level engagements and international tours of the King and Queen.
Palace insiders believe her journalism background makes her ideally placed to navigate the ever-demanding media landscape surrounding the monarchy.

There is also a close royal connection already in place. Her partner, Andrew Parsons, works as a photographer for Prince William and Kate, placing Mills firmly in royal circles even before taking on the role.
She takes office at a sensitive time, as the monarchy faces renewed scrutiny and public debate.
The recent controversy surrounding Andrew and the Republic’s visible protests have added additional pressure to how the royal family communicates with the public.
Mills is no stranger to asking tough questions. Her reporting includes comments following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which she said silence alone would not calm the storm.
