- Pixel Watch users report errors in Fitbit app following latest update
- These include inaccuracies regarding steps and calorie counts, as well as mileage.
- Neither Google nor Fitbit have fixed the problems
Has the Fitbit app on your Pixel Watch been streaming for you recently? Don’t worry, you’re not alone, as it turns out other users have encountered similar errors.
Online users have reported issues with step counts, calorie tracking and other fitness metrics, saying the readings don’t match their real-time activity. These issues have become more common since Google rolled out the latest Pixel Watch update a few weeks ago.
Initially, there were a handful of health tracking issues reported, such as the skin temperature tool, but the issue has persisted and more users are now reporting broader data tracking issues with Fitbit’s most popular features, the main one being step counts. In a post on Reddit, Pixel Watch owners claim that their step counts more than double the actual number of daily steps they take, with one user claiming to have taken 14,000 steps just by sitting at a desk.

The author of the post revealed that the advice they received from Google Support was to perform a factory reset on their watch, and although other users have claimed that this can work, the problems start again as soon as they sync their watch with their phone. Another user said that when he told Google’s support team, they completely ignored the issues.
However, step count issues are just the beginning and it also leads to inaccuracies when it comes to mileage and calories – one user reported that although their step count seemed normal, their calorie count doubled even though they hadn’t exercised. These errors are more than just an application bug; They interfere with your tracking goals and affect the performance of metrics designed to alert changes in your diet.
When it comes to features like SpO2 readings and skin temperature, these measurements help you identify trends and changes in your health, so they depend on consistency. Inaccurate and inconsistent step count readings mean that they will not reflect the reality of your movements and will therefore present incorrect skin temperature and blood oxygen levels.
As it stands, neither Google nor Fitbit have commented on these issues, explained how they came to be, or how they are working to resolve them. Like you, we’re also waiting in uncertainty for the two companies to find a solution, but we’ve requested a comment and will update this story when we know more.
