The Chapultepec Golf Club was not up to Bryson DeChambeau’s standards.

The two-time US Open winner went to the LIV Golf event in Mexico amid questions about their funding beyond this season, and he wasn’t thrilled with the course conditions in one area.

After hitting a bunker shot on the 16th, DeChambeau found himself in an uneven spot where the grass wasn’t really fully grown anywhere.

“You have grass destroyed,” DeChambeau said. “Oh, is it hard? Certainly. It’s good to see.”

DeChambeau then waited for a rules official, apparently because of his lie, but he didn’t exactly get the benefit of the doubt. He then hit the green.

DeChambeau wasn’t thrilled with the course last year, citing “the worst fucking bunkers ever.”

He ended up shooting a second round for the second day in a row.

The frustration follows missing the cut at the Masters just a year after being in the final group with eventual champion Rory McIlroy. DeChambeau was the second favorite to win behind Scottie Scheffler.

LIV Golf made a stop in Mexico City amid early reports and confirmation from CEO Scott O’Neil that Saudi Arabia would end its funding after this season.

“And then you work like crazy as a company to create a business and a business plan to keep us going. But it’s no different than any other privately funded business in human history,” O’Neil said Thursday.

“How we’re going to move forward is what I’m really excited about. I’ve talked about some structural changes – they’re coming. You can ask about 50 people I’ve met in Augusta, I’ve rolled out the plan. We have one, it might surprise some people…” he added.

“This notion of ‘Should you raise money?’ ” Probably. It’s business. But if we maintain the current trajectory and revenue growth, this is going to be a very good business for a very long time. »
