- Masters of the Universe fans may not have seen the last of Skeletor
- His director says he already knows how he would bring him back
- One of the sci-fi fantasy film’s post-credits scenes explains how he might return
Masters of the Universe Filmmaker Travis Knight has indicated that we haven’t seen or heard the end of Skeletor – and one of the film’s post-credits scenes all but confirms that he will return.
Before the release of the sci-fi fantasy film, I asked its director if He-Man’s nemesis would return in the future. And while Knight hasn’t specified when or where we’ll see Skeletor again, the film’s third and final post-credits sequence strongly implies that he’ll be back in a future project.

In Masters of the UniverseIn the final act of Adam/He-Man, he not only defeats Skeletor, but appears to kill him. Indeed, after their climactic battle ends, all that remains of the film’s main villain is the evil wizard’s lifeless skull.
However, He-Man fans know not to believe that Skeletor is no more. The Lord of Destruction, wielding the Staff of Havoc, has returned time and again to other lands. Masters of the Universe projects, including the 1985 animated series and Netflix’s much-criticized television reimagining of the Mattel-created franchise.
An end credits stinger on this new 2026 film also proves that its time will come again. Indeed, the final post-credits sequence shows Evil-Lyn, aka Skeletor’s second-in-command, sneaking into Castle Grayskull and finding Skeletor’s remains. After retrieving her skull, she jokes about her current situation. Then, as the screen fades to black, we hear Skeletor’s iconic laugh, confirming that he’s not as dead as he seems.
So, it’s clear that we’ll see Skeletor in a sequel to the new Amazon movie, right? I asked Knight this question during the film’s UK tour, to which he replied: “You haven’t finished seeing Skeletor. That’s all I’ll say about that.
“If the world wants more of this stuff and we have a chance to follow up, I know what I would like to see,” he added when I pressed him for a better answer. “The end of the film even suggests where things could go, and there are certainly more stories to tell. But if we never get the chance to make a sequel, I’m very happy with the standalone story we told.”
