Speaking at a ceremony at the Pakistan Stock Exchange marking the listing of Service Long March Tires Limited, Aurangzeb said Pakistani leaders had played a role in supporting dialogue and de-escalation efforts.
He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir were recognized internationally for their efforts, which he said helped conclude the negotiations. The minister said Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating dialogue had strengthened its position as a “constructive and responsible partner” in regional affairs.
Aurangzeb said the agreement could help ease economic uncertainty linked to recent regional tensions. He said Pakistan had “effectively weathered” the initial economic impact of the conflict over the past three months and suggested the deal could reduce the risks of further fallout.
While noting that disruptions in the energy sector would take time to stabilise, he said the overall economic outlook had improved, with “encouraging upside potential” for the next fiscal year.
The agreement
Pakistan has repeatedly called for dialogue and diplomatic engagement to resolve regional disputes and tensions.
U.S. and Iranian officials said they had agreed on a framework to end their war, end the U.S. blockade of Iran and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a preliminary deal that sent oil prices tumbling but leaves the fate of Iran’s nuclear program up for further negotiations.
The memorandum of understanding is expected to be officially signed on Friday in Switzerland.
The precise terms were not immediately known. Sharif said in a post on X that the agreement called for “an immediate and permanent end to military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.”

Iranian media on Monday published details of a draft 14-point memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States outlining a proposed framework for ending the war and moving toward a final agreement.
The project provides for the total lifting of the American naval blockade against Iran within 30 days. It also calls for the Strait of Hormuz to reopen within 30 days, in accordance with Iranian agreements.
Since mid-March, Trump has repeatedly asserted that a deal with Iran to end the war is near. The two sides traded strikes this week, straining the ceasefire announced in April.
The region has been under tension since the United States and Israel launched airstrikes against Iran in late February, triggering Iranian retaliation against Israel and other regional countries harboring U.S. assets.
A temporary ceasefire was agreed on April 8, but negotiations subsequently stalled due to disputes over its implementation and subsequent regional developments, even as Trump extended the truce indefinitely.
