- AMD confirmed its full DNA 4 launch event for February 28
- These initial RX 9070 models will be sold in early March
- This sets up the RX 9070 for a confrontation against the NVIDIA RTX 5070 which strikes the shelves on March 5
AMD revealed that its DNA 4 graphics cards will obtain a complete launch event – as opposed to ephemeral announcements made to these 2025 – in two weeks, before the release of Mars for these GPUs.
David McAfee, who is the vice-president and managing director of AMD of Ryzen and Radeon, let us know that the date and time to be scored in our calendars are February 28 at 8 am (5 am PST, 1 pm United Kingdom) via a position on X.
The wait is almost over. Join us on February 28 at 8 a.m. HNE for the revelation of the series @amd Radeon RX 9000 of new generation. Prepare to do it when he hits the shelves in early March. RSVP in the AMD Youtube channel subscription: https://t.co/4RKVXEODIAFebruary 13, 2025
The AMD Exec also said that the long -awaited RX 9070 models were going to the shelves in early March.
When the RX 9070 XT and Plain RX 9070 were announced in CES 2025 last month, the broad expectation was that they arrived earlier in the first quarter, rather than later.
This hope had cold water paid on it when AMD confirmed that these DNR 4 graphics cards were delayed in March, and McAfee went to X to explain why. To know how to ensure that the adrenaline adrenaline graphics pilots are fully adjusted and ready to go to ensure the best performance for GPUs RX 9070 out of the door, and also to provide more support to FSR 4 in games PC (effectively achieving the same end) effectively).
Analysis: one last concern …
Above all, McAfee also mentioned that another reason to remove the GPU output from DNA 4 in March was to strengthen the levels of degrees of retail graphics cards.
Now, I read the release date set at “early March” to signify the first week of next month, and that makes sense if we turn our attention to Nvidia’s plans. We have just heard the main rival of the GPU of AMD that its GeForce RTX 5070 will be on sale on March 5.
So, it seems to me a lot as if there will be a head-to-head confrontation of mid-range GPUs, more or less, just after March takes place, AMD aimed at taking Nvidia directly here.
Team Red could well be supported by the general trend of stock levels for NVIDIA GPU blackwell so far, and (quite credible) rumors that RTX 5070 may not be very different from RTX 5080 and 5090 in this regard. After all, Nvidia announced that the RTX 5070 models will both launch in February – the TI and Vanilla Spin version – and then pushed the non -Ti graphics card to Mars. This broken promise does not look like a good sign, in terms of stock, for me.
On the other hand, AMD seems more confident about the relatively robust supply levels for DNA 4, and we know that these GPUs have been with retailers since January. It is thanks to disclosed photos of these stores, and in addition, the own confirmation of the RED team according to which the manufacturing partners of the board of directors had “started to build an initial inventory among retailers” in January in January .
In addition to that, there are rumors convincingly on the potential performance levels that we will see RX 9070 models to start, and the sources elsewhere indicate that AMD really takes its time on this new generation GPU launch for good do things.
The only concern that remains is the prices, and if AMD’s apparent confidence with this mid -range confrontation against NVIDIA RTX 5070 models could mean that the company grows a little more with the prices requested for RX 9070 variants.
If you browse the answers to the McAfee post on X, it is the coherent concern throughout the respondents who have less positive reflections on DNA 4. In short, the fear is that the launch of Blackwell D ‘Purchase from Nvidia could mean that AMD decides to invoice more for GPU RX 9070 – Although having installed its stand because they are mid -range graphics cards, there is surely a distance limit for Team Red Either able to push here, if it was a temptation?
Time will tell us, and I hope that AMD will not lead to any excess here – it is an excellent opportunity to fight for Nvidia, after all. At the same time, I also do not anticipate a surprise with lower prices, because given the way the market is at the moment, that does not make much sense. However, whatever happens, we must see exactly how RX 9070 performance takes place before we can really get a prospect on prices, anyway.
