Islamabad:
The long -awaited conference of all the parts (APC) of the opposition, which takes place on February 26 and 27, struck a hook before it even could begin, while the organizers alleged that the local administration of the administration of the local administration of twin cities threw a key to rejecting the event until the ICC 2025 champions trophy is finished.
However, the opposition parties remain not discouraged, promising to vapor the advance with the conference, which will focus on maintaining the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law.
They said the event will take place as scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, with a new place announced soon.
At a hurry -in press conference on Tuesday evening, the newly recorded political party leader Awam Pakistan, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, revealed that civil servants of all the places reserved earlier for having held the events had excused one after the others.
The party leader said they had been under pressure by local administrations to cancel events.
However, the opposition parties have now decided that the conference will still be held and that the last place will soon be communicated. Abbasi was accompanied by Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the man of the Pachtunkh party Mill Awami, Sahibzada Hamid Raza of the Sunni Ittehad Council, and Sal-Man Akram Raja, the secretary general of Pakistan Tehrek-e-insaf, among others.
The opposition considers current political and constitutional crises as a serious threat to democracy. It aims to formulate a joint strategy to meet these challenges, affirming that the government and local administrations should not be afraid of a closed meeting discussing the political, economic and constitutional challenges in progress.
During the press conference, Achakzai continued by saying that the opposition would not allow Parliament to function gently if the opposition decision was thwarted. Raza has not chosen words either by saying that the conference would be held at all costs.
Earlier, the opposition published the agenda of the national conference on the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law, claiming that they aimed to bring together politicians, legal experts, representatives of the company civil and the media, to discuss fundamental questions and design the future course of action.
The agenda declared that efforts to establish a prosperous and democratic state have been weakened several times by frequent interference from non -democratic forces, adding that it was still aggravated by plots, a weak political system, corruption corruption and a confrontation within institutions.
The National Conference, organized by Abbasi and Achakzai, was initially to take place at the Atrium, E-11, Islamabad, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, due to a last -minute withdrawal by the management of the Atrium, the event will now take place in a different place.
Thanks to the agenda, the opposition parties revealed that political stability is essential to economic progress and that any gap in relation to the constitutional principles weakens democracy. They argued that the APC will serve as a platform to establish a consensus on the measures necessary to protect the system against unconstitutional actions.
The agenda stipulates that the constitution of Pakistan defines the framework of a sovereign and independent state. Since 1947, he says, the Constitution has described a complete state system, but the challenges of the increase in these principles have persisted.
Stressing that Pakistan was spent through a critical moment, he declared that the country continued to face constitutional crises, political instability and economic challenges even after the general elections of February 2024, alleging that the public mandate had was violated and that democratic standards have been undermined.
“The elections have not only made a question of questioning the political process, but on the democratic future of Pakistan,” he read.
In such circumstances, he says, maintaining constitutional supremacy and the rule of law is essential, adding that the need for dialogue and national narrative becomes even more critical to collectively orient the country towards stability and progress.
In this context, it continues, the conference is organized to reflect on the country’s management and provide practical solutions to move forward from below. The opposition indicates that the participants will also discuss the means of safeguarding fundamental rights, promoting transparency in governance and maintaining freedom of expression and the press.
They say that the discussion will also highlight the need for a transparent and responsible government which can restore public confidence in institutions. The agenda urges the general public to manifest itself, play its role and put the country back on a democratic path.
In recent weeks, the opposition has intensified consultations with different parties and leaders to find viable solutions to the country’s current crises and start a movement against the PML-N government.
Opposition leaders argue that they will in no case allow democratic values. As political tensions intensified, the opposition APC poses a new challenge for the government, intensifying the already volatile political landscape more.
During the PTI government, the opposition parties of the time had also gathered to put pressure on the government of the time. Later, the opposition parties had succeeded in executing a request without confidence against Prime Minister Imran Khan, who had paved the way for the coalition government led by PML-NN.
