- Look products on TEMU Spark authenticity problems
- The TEMU exam system faces a meticulous examination in the midst of manipulation signs
- The price alone does not dethrone Amazon – Temu must gain consumer confidence
The Chinese Electronic Commerce Giant Temu has become a strong competitor of Amazon by offering prices considerably lower than a wide range of products in recent months
A new OMNISEND report said that TEMU prices are, on average, 40% lower for items that closely correspond to the Amazon lists. The site is strongly based on discounts to attract buyers, with approximately 65% of its lists featuring Markdowns, compared to 47% on Amazon, certain items seeing price reductions that can reach 98%.
TEMU has gained ground in budgetary categories such as clothing, shoes, jewelry and beauty products, where it offers cheaper alternatives to Amazon. The overlap of these categories is high, with a correspondence rate of 94% for the elements listed on the two platforms. However, despite its aggressive updating, it has not yet exceeded Amazon in the confidence of consumers and the transparency of products, which can limit its ability to move customer loyalty.
Consumer pricing and perception strategies
Amazon remains dominant in segments sensitive to confidence such as car products, where it systematically offers lower prices – being around 12% cheaper than TEMU. Buyers also promote Amazon for food and drinks, where the TEMU correspondence rate is the lowest.
Amazon also has an advantage in electronics and household appliances, where factors such as guarantees, reliable criticism and trust customer support play an important role in purchasing decisions.
It also maintains an advantage in the confidence of consumers, partly because of its robust examination system. The average Amazon product has around 50,000 opinions, while the TEMU lists generally only have 1,500.
The researchers have found signs of possible manipulation of examination on TEMU, such as the disappearance of negative criticisms and products with low evaluation donated in the new lists. While Amazon also faces problems with false criticism, its application measures are more transparent.
Meanwhile, many TEMU ads closely resemble well -known brands, but have modified packaging or blurred logos, which raises doubts about authenticity.
In the end, Temu’s ability to compete with Amazon depends not only on the drop in prices but also on credibility. While deep discounts attract buyers concerned about the budget, confidence and reliability remain crucial for long -term consumer preferences.
About confidence – TEMU and similar markets have attracted millions of people in the past year, but, in September 2024, TEMU denied a data violation of a database containing 87 million personal user information.
