- Polaroid’s now instant cameras get a refreshment with new third generation models
- Now + model can connect to the Polaroid application for wireless control
- Available from March 4 in new colors and made from 40% recycled materials
Polaroid has updated its now instantaneous cameras series with third generation models now 3 and now 3+. They are the latest instantly low-cost instant cameras that run on the magnificent (and the largest) Carré’s film by Polaroid, like the Premium I-2. Consider them GO Polaroid Super-Taille.
Few things have changed between the original now and now + from 2020 and second generation models that came two years later and, to tell the truth, the latter models are also quite familiar.
It is not a bad thing, we really assess the now + and it is in our best buying guide for instant cameras for several years. But what is exactly new in the 3 and now 3 and now?
The new features are carefully summarized by Polaroid, which describes its latest now 3 and now 3+ AS, “a refined instantaneous camera with an autofocus system with two improved objectives, an improved development sensor and a better light meter for sharper images, even the sunniest days”.
In other words, usefrères should expect more clear and better impressions, whatever the weather, wherever you are.
What is also new is that the two cameras are made with 40% recycled materials – Polaroid congratulations for this – and come in a range of new colors. They are available immediately (from March 4, 2025) on the Polaroid website and certain retailers, with prices from $ 119.99 / £ 119.99 for the $ 3 and $ 139.99.99 £ for 3+ now (Australian TBC).
+ =?
There have always been two coexisting Polaroid models now; The accustomed now and now +. So what is the difference between the two versions? Well, they are identical in all points of view, except for one thing; The NOW + version can connect to your smart device for wireless control.
Now 3+ can be checked via the Polaroid application, with creative tools such as a double exposure, a remote timer and a mode of opening priority. Combine these skills with colorful lens filters (available separately and in various bundles), and there is a lot of creative pleasure to have.
It is also possible to scan and share prints via the application. Naturally, the model Plus costs a little more, but not much and we think it is worth additional expenses on the standard version.
As cameras, the two are an excellent value, but when you consider an instant camera, you must take into account the operating costs of film purchase, and the premium film by Polaroid is more expensive than instax (and with reason – it’s magnificent).
We have not yet got our hands on the new versions, but we will carry out a full exam when we do. Our expectations are tempered – we do not expect to see a lot of difference between the now + and now 3+ but, once again, it is not a bad thing. We will let you know soon.
