- Vodafone employees were recalled according to 8 days a month
- The company’s policy has been in place from the pandemic, but the application is being reduced
- Many other technological companies have eliminated flexible or hybrid employment policies
Vodafone employees have been warned must spend at least 8 days a month in office, or cope with bonuses and other advantages.
The workers have received a “hybrid working at Vodafone” memo, seen by the register, which described the policy and told staff that they could face disciplinary measures if these directives are not followed.
Vodafone’s policy always allows workers a certain flexibility, because employees should be in office 2 to 3 times a week, but can work at home on the days remaining – and workers are invited to attend team days to “help members to form a model”.
Hybrid policies
“Employees who are not fully in line with our hybrid working policy by the end of the first quarter can be subject to disciplinary measures in accordance with politics,” said the memo.
“The continuous non-compliance with attendance attendance at the end of attendance could lead to a final written written warning, which would mean that individuals do not comply with minimum performance standards and would therefore not be eligible for a bonus in 2026 or in the following years in which a final warning is given.”
Vodafone transmitted a declaration, confirming that the note was a strengthening of an existing policy.
“Vodafone’s hybrid working policy has been in place since 2021, all employees who should be at the office 2 to 3 times a week, or at least 8 days a month,” said the company. “This allows flexibility for staff and for them to benefit from a collaboration in office.”
Vodafone is not the first to apply a policy like this, with companies like Dell opting for a little further and ending hybrid work, completely giving back to the office.
This despite the fact that studies have shown that almost everyone is much more productive when we work at home, with 50% of managers introducing flexible work styles, and 82% planning to continue.
Companies such as Amazon apply the return to office controls, despite almost all the staff dissatisfied with the policy, 73% of the employees who responded to this made them consider moving jobs.
