- Google tests even more new features in its beta application of messages
- These include a widen 14-line message view and new RCS messages labels
- Although these are still in beta, they could start to move to users this month
Over the past two months, Google has doubled on the eradication of all the traces of Google Assistant to make Gemini its flagship voice assistant, but in the middle of organized Gemini chaos, Google has paid a lot of attention to the improvement of its application of messages, which has given it a much necessary TLC.
It is sure to say that the new revisions of the Google Messages application have considerably improved its user interface. Its new rehearsal function for group cats also comes to mind, but Google is still in its period of beta test. For a while, Google experienced an easier way to join group cats, following the traces of WhatsApp. Now he is testing five other features that could be the next wave of levels of Google messages this month.
Although these features are in a beta version, there was no comments on their official use of users. That said, we keep an eye on any other update.
Google extends its 4 -line text field limit
Barely a few weeks ago, we reported a new upgrade found in Google Beta messages indicating that Google would better manage long text messages.
For a while, Google Messages users were limited to a four -line view limit when sending SMS, which means that you have to scroll to review your message before sending. This is particularly frustrating when sending long URL links.
But it could soon be one thing in the past, because 9TO5GOOGLE has picked up a new beta code which reveals a widely expanded message field on the Pixel 9A which now reaches up to 14 lines.
New RCS labels
Recently, Google has tested new integrated labels that could distinguish if you send an SMS or RCS message.
Thanks to an APK disassembly of Android Authority, the labels found in BETA suggest that soon you will be able to see which of your contacts use RCS in the messages, adding a new RCS label on the right side of the name or number of a contact.
Unsubscribe automated texts
This is a feature that we are delighted to see, and we hope for a broader deployment this month. A few weeks ago, an unsubscription button was spotted at the bottom of certain messages, which could give users an easier way to unsubscribe from automated texts and even the possibility of reporting spam.
When you press this, a list of options will seem to ask you for your unsubscribe reasons, which include “not registered”, “too many messages” and “more interested” as well as an option for “spam”. If you select one of the first three, a message reading “stop” will be sent automatically and you will be without stopped.
Read the receipts gets a new look
Google could introduce another overhaul how you can display the reading receipts in the messages application. In November 2024, Google tested an overhaul of its reading receipts which placed the check symbols inside the message bubbles, which appeared under sent messages.
In January, Google tested another little overhaul introducing a new white background, which could take place soon, and although it is not a major overhaul, it is effective enough for reading receipts to stand out more.
We first noticed that Google Messages was preparing a new photo and video quality upgrade. In March, more users began to notice greater availability, but it is still not entirely deployed, which means that it could be one of the following new updates in the coming weeks.
Essentially, Google could deploy a new option that allows you to send media, such as photos and videos, in their original quality. This will give you the choice of the following two options:
“Optimizing for the cat” – Send photos and videos at a faster speed, compromising quality.
“ Original quality ” – Send photos and videos as they appear in the integrated storage of your phone.
