Islamabad:
The Senate joined forces Tuesday to reject the Hysteria of the India War, promising to resolutely respond to any mishap of New Delhi following the terrorist attack in Iiojk.
Vice-Prime Minister Ishaq Dar told the Upper House that after the Pahalgam incident, China and Turkiye had taken an unequivocal position to support Pakistan.
He added that the Chinese Foreign Minister has provided full support for Islamabad.
The session was chaired by the vice-president of the Syedaal Senate Khan Nasir.
During the session, the senators of all political parties took a firm and united position on the tensions of Pakistan-India.
Following the speeches of various senators, the Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the House in the Senate, Ishaq Dar, informed the House of Diplomatic Efforts undertaken since the pahalgam incident.
He informed that Pakistan had contacted the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, China, the United Kingdom, Kuwait, Bahrain and Hungary.
“We have informed these countries of the historic file of India and its current conceptions,” he said, adding that Turkiye and China have adopted a clear position in favor of Pakistan.
“The Turkish Foreign Minister asked us how they could help, while the Chinese Foreign Minister assured us support.”
Dar expressed his suspicion that the Pahalgam incident could have been deliberately orchestrated as a pretext to eliminate existing agreements. “Pakistan has no involvement in Pahalgam incident,” he said.
Representing the Federation, Dar said that the Senate had shown a remarkable feeling of unity. “This is a welcome step that all the Senate political parties unanimously adopted a joint resolution.”
He revealed that in a conversation with the Turkish Foreign Minister, he had warned that if India is considering a decision, “this time, the answer will be tit for state”. “India has not provided any evidence. We fulfill our diplomatic functions responsible,” he added.
DAR also pointed out that India had written a letter citing “modified circumstances” as justification to suspend the Indus water Treaty. “Shortly after staging the drama of Pulwama, they have changed the constitutional status of cashmere. Now, they are trying to provoke regional instability again,” he said.
The National Security Committee has already declared that any attempt to block water would be treated as an act of war.
With regard to the CSNU declaration of April 25, sentenced to Pahalgam attack, the Deputy Prime Minister said that Pakistan, as a member of the CSNU, had an objection to the language used in a post-pahalgame press release issued unanimously by the Council.
“On behalf of Pakistan, I filed two objections,” said Dar. “First, the condemnation of the resistance front (TRF); secondly, I demanded that the reference to Pahalgam be extended to include” Jammu and Kashmir “to reflect the position of Pakistan”.
The Senate then unanimously adopted two bills with a majority of votes, in particular the Bill on the Convention on Biological Arms and Toxins (implementation), 2025 and the bill of the National Commission for the minorities, 2025.
The two bills were tabled by the Federal Minister of Law and Judge Azam Nazir Tarar.
The implementation of the Convention on Biological Weapons (BWC) in Pakistan through the bill is a critical obligation under international non-proliferation and resolutions of the CNSC.
The bill of the National Commission for the minorities, 2025, aims to institutionalize the protection of the rights of minorities in the country thanks to the formation of a statutory committee.
