- Canon should increase the prices of the camera in us since the latter half of 2025
- An impact on the price located for us, but could in turn have a global effect
- Dji has already increased the price of the Osmo 3 pocket
It was clear what was at the head of everyone during the first quarterly call of Canon for 2025, with the investor questions / answers dominated by the American prices.
In the process, Canon has become the first major camera brand to publicly discuss the impact of American prices, saying: “We have informed the major dealers that we will increase prices and that we are estimating the calendar and the amount of the increase”.
Additional prices do not affect the prices of the goods already imported and Canon projects its American sales subsidiary has “about one or two months of inventory”.
The prices of the Canon camera should therefore stay the same for the first half of 2025. However, we can expect a bump prices in the second half, depending on the cannon sales projections.
Canon continued by saying: “Since the prices are borne in relation to the cost of goods, the higher the cost ratio, the higher the price rates.”
We do not yet know how serious the increases could be, but Canon is in fact in a better position than most other cameras manufacturers to limit the price increases to customers, because most of the cameras it sells in the United States are produced in Japan, not in China.
Japan’s additional tariffs by 24% are currently reduced to 10% for a period of 90 days, although Canon declared in Q&R that it did not have the immediate intention of exporting camera products before the calendar during this period.
Be that as it may, these prices are much lower than what they are in China, which, at the time of writing, is affected by an additional 145%rate, an impact on camera manufacturers such as DJI and their customers.
And so it starts
We have already seen what is probably price increases related to the American prices of other brands, including DJI, whose popular Osmo Pocket 3 has just seen a price hike. Our highest rated vlogging camera was launched in 2023 to the $ 500 mark, but now it costs $ 800. Ouch.
The range of compact D-Lux cameras of Leica is manufactured in China and is also also assigned-the price of D-Lux 8 has almost doubled, which means that it is not quite the Leica at low cost.
It is clear that brands are not those that absorb higher cost ratios caused by American prices – the lion’s share is the responsibility of American customers, who will have to pay more money for a new camera once the current stocks used.
Canon considers the impact to be located for American customers, but has recognized that if the American prices trigger a global recession, the prices of the cameras could change around the world.
There could also be serious delays on new products made in China on the market. There have been many leaks that DJI’s OSMO 360 – a 360 -degree and insta 360 -degree camera – is ready to be launched, but also that DJI plans to attract the sheet given these increased costs.
In light of price increases, we could see the request go from new equipment to use, and this could in turn mean an increase in the price of used equipment.
The severity of price increases for new equipment, the more chronology, will undoubtedly become clear in the coming months, but if you are in the United States and you are looking for a new camera, it could pay to act quickly.
