- Garmin apparently plans to delete new guided training for his Garmin coach service
- According to the leak, swimming and walking are the two disciplines that focus on
- Coach Swim is likely to have lessons focused on free waters, while the Walking coach will offer a “exposure to nature” and stress management
According to leaks, new training focused on swimming and walking will be added to some of the best Garmin watches.
Garmin Coach Swim, as mentioned by the The5krunner leakage site, is apparently ready to complete the new Garmin triathlon coaching service, and will focus on creating good techniques (using tools such as buoys to refine the form ” and focus on the efficiency of kicks), endurance and endurance, intensity, recovery and preparations and preparations breed.
Some classes would focus on swimming in free water, which makes them particularly useful for triathletes. Swimming in free water also becomes more and more popular with non-triathletes, because the participants in wild swimming use activity as an opportunity to connect with nature. There is an opportunity here for Garmin to serve wild swimmers who seek to improve gently, as well as multi -discipline athletes which are the typical Garmin target audience.
Garmin Coach Walking, like the other group set is referred, will offer a more holistic approach to the physical form. While the endurance and fitness classes are mentioned, probably offering a variety of interval style sessions and walking lengths, leaks describe more emphasis on recovery and well-being, mindfulness and stress management.
The “respiratory consciousness” and “exposure to nature” are listed as aspects of some of these walking courses. Like swimming in free water, walking in nature (whether a local park or a panoramic hike) allows participants to disconnect screens and reconnect with the natural world, with proven advantages of stress management.
We do not yet know which watches will support these classes, or when we can expect what they land on the Garmin Connect application.
The advantages of “exposure to nature”
A Harvard ‘2021 study found evidence of associations between exposure to nature and an improvement in cognitive function, brain activity, blood pressure, mental health, physical activity and sleep’ with positive links between the spent time in the natural world and mental and physical health.
But you don’t need us to tell yourself that: advice on the drop in blood pressure and strengthening mood by spending time in the sun and near trees have been decades for decades. Allowing people to enjoy the green spaces near them with guided watch sessions is a new way for Garmin to improve the health and mood of its users.
These courses will find their niches, but will not be for everyone. Free water swimming are not accessible to everyone, but triathletes and passionate wild swimmers will certainly benefit from dedicated coach courses. Training on foot is much more accessible, but can be too calm for passionate runners and cyclists, who will probably prefer to access nature using their more intense chosen disciplines.
