Islamabad: acting on the directives of the Ministry of the Interior, the Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) created a special team to combat hatred speeches on social networks during Muharram.
According to a press release, there will be a repression against hate material, disinformation and incentive to social media. Strict measures will be taken against those who disseminate the speech of hatred and religious conflicts on social networks.
A team of experts, including technical specialists, digital analysts and officers monitoring hatred equipment, has been trained to monitor publications on social networks according to religious hatred. The NCCIA said that prevention of incentives on social networks during Muharram will be its absolute priority, and that legal measures will be taken against those who have found themselves to spread hatred.
After receiving multiple testimonies of moon glasses across the country, the central committee of Rue-E-Hilal announced Thursday that the moon of Moharram 1447 Hijri was seen in the country and that Ashura would fall on July 6 (Sunday).
Muharram is considered one of the four sacred Islamic months. Ashura fell to her 10th day when the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PSL), the imam Hussain (RA) with his family members was martyred in the battle of Karbala.
The faithful occupy processions and majalis across the country in Muharram, while religious scholars attack enormous rallies in the midst of tight security, thousands of police forces deployed to ensure security.
In addition, the decision to suspend mobile phone or internet services during the sacred Islamic month would be taken in consultation with the provinces, as resolved at a meeting chaired by the Minister of the Interior Mohin Naqvi to examine the national security plan.
The meeting examined the security preparations for Muharram in all the provinces, notably Azad Jammu and Cashmire (AJK), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and the Federal Capital, Islamabad. The authorities have agreed that strict measures would be taken against individuals distributing religious hatred on social media platforms.
Naqvi added that all the necessary measures and decisions related to the security of Muharram would be undertaken through the mutual consultation. He said the federal government would provide total support to maintain peace during the religious month.
He also pointed out that no individual would be authorized to provoke disorders or to engage in subversive activities. Naqvi said that the application of the code of conduct during Muharram would be ensured and noted that procedures and gatherings would be monitored using modern technology.
