- Some pixel owners report Android 16 locking problems
- The screen can be late and insensitive
- So far, Google has not issued any official advice on the problem
The official deployment of Android 16 started last month, with the best pixel phones first for update – but it seems that the software causes locking screen problems for a large number of pixel owners.
Various problems have been reported, according to 9TBogle. These include the locking screen that did not wake up when tapped, and not to respond to a support on the power button, as well as fingerprint identification problems and extreme variations in brightness.
“I felt a significant delay in the fuel trying to wake up my phone,” wrote a user on the help forums of the Pixel phone. “I often have to press several times before the phone finally reacts. This problem occurs once or twice a day.”
For this particular user, there was a fix: start in safe mode (see here) then restart normally. If you live something similar, this fix is worth it to be tried – but even with a possible bypass solution, it is not something that Google will be happy to see.
Difficulty waking up
“Has anyone else noticed problems where the screen does not wake up when the screen appears or try to use Lift to wake up?” Ask another user on Reddit. “By also pressing the power button, a long delay woke up the screen.”
This user reports that their problems concern a Pixel 9 Pro XL and that the problem has been recorded with Google. If you encounter difficulties with Android 16, the Google help portal is a good starting point to get help.
For the moment, Google has not officially said anything about the problems – perhaps because the reported bugs are so numerous and so varied. The types of problems mentioned are the type that may well be corrected with future Android 16 software update.
It is difficult to assess how widespread these problems are there – they definitively affect certain pixel users, but not all pixel users. Even if only a small number of people are affected, it is disappointing that we always see bugs like this after several months of beta tests.
