Friday, the opposition parties called for the immediate release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi and the rights activist, Dr. Mahrang Baloch "military interference" in democratic and judicial affairs. The requests were made in a joint declaration at the end of the APC organized by Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan (TTAP), from July 31 to August 1 in Islamabad. They noted generalized public alienation with farmers in distress, the middle class experiencing a 58% drop in purchasing power and young people who exceed 30%. Participants expressed the alarm in relation to corruption and rampant interference in civil and judicial institutions, calling for legal reforms and a truly independent judicial system. They supported six judges from the High Court of Islamabad who had raised concerns concerning judicial interference and demanded the repeal of the 26th constitutional amendment linked to judicial appointments. The declaration proposed a commission of truth and reconciliation of South Africa style, calling for voluntary admissions of constitutional subversion since 1947. It has criticized the political parties which abandoned their commitment to democratic charters. Any modification of the National Finance Commission or the violations of the 1991 water agreement were described as attacks against federal unit. The Alliance condemned the use of political reprisals and called for mutual respect among political actors. He rejected all forms of media censorship and supported journalists confronted with legal threats or silence. The questions of women’s rights such as honor murders, forced marriages and the refusal of the inheritance have been highlighted, in addition to calls for the protection of minority laws and the prevention of forced conversions.
