- Sony’s director of director Sadahiko Hayakawa made interesting comments on the company’s game strategy
- He said that he “moved away from a central hardware company to a community engagement company”
- This could mean that PlayStation Platform Games are on the way
Sony’s vice-president Sadahiko Hayakawa has revealed some interesting details on the company’s current game strategy.
Speaking in a Q&R after the company’s last call for the company, Hayakawa was asked about Sony’s investment in various intellectual properties (IP).
“We turned to creation,” he replied, before listing a number of examples. This included the transition to production in digital cameras in the Sony TV segment, in addition to the expansion of the company’s musical catalog through acquisitions.
“In our game company, we are getting more from a central hardware company from a community engagement company,” he said.
“This has increased, so now, when we make more than one transition for more entertainment creation, the stability of our performance increases.”
As for what it could mean in practical terms, it is likely that we will see other multiplatform versions, in particular with regard to its live service offers.
In the case of a game as Helldivers 2Which should be launched on Xbox on August 26, it is logical that Sony wants to maximize his live persistent income by having the title available on as many platforms as possible rather than on PlayStation 5.
