Lahore:
With almost every chances stacked in their favor and with little to lose, the channel problem turns into a disguised blessing for the PPP while the controversy helps the party to reconnect with its basic support base, which gives it the possibility of establishing an independent position within the government, said two PPP chiefs.
Now that the PPP has refused to give in its request for an establishment of the controversial channel project, even threatening to withdraw its support from the government, the PML-N in power realizes the bitter consequence of this dead end and Sunday, it finally decided to take a political path, offering the Sindh government led by the PPP to solve the problem via the dialogue.
This dialogue offer was apparently made on the investigation of President PML-N Nawaz Sharif, who advised his party to gain confidence in his ally.
Before this intervention, some leaders of PML-N have been seen to take public jibes at the PPP, some calling it an intra-party battle while others calling the position of the PPP on the channel program of a battle for its political survival in the Sindh. A senior PPP official admitted that they were a little late to respond to the controversy of the canal, allowing Sindh local leaders to start the question.
However, he said, anyone saying that the PPP is threatened by these political entities is completely ignorant of soil reality in the Sindh. He said that the PPP could not have reacted impulsively because these local players did it because it is a key ally of the government.
“The PPP would not have taken a hard line, if the government’s ministers had shown a deadline,” he said.
He said whatever the way the situation took place, it was a disguised blessing for the PPP. He said that the PML-N, or those who underlie it, fully know that the PPP can bring down this system in the blink of an eye.
He said that the glue alone, in particular in test times, holding this alliance together – the establishment – cannot at least in this question, the PPP does at least.
“They will have to do certain allowances. Allowing this project to proceed potentially could endanger the grip of the PPP on the Sindh, so that any amount of threat will not force him to go to the issue.”
He said that with their digital strength in the National Assembly and with their policy at stake in Sindh, neither the PML-N nor the establishment can do nothing for the PPP does not change their minds. “The PPP will go to the end with this battle, even if it means leaving this government,” he added.
He said that PPP president Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and his father, president of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, are on the same wavelength on this issue. Zardari’s stature does not allow him to make the kind of hard speech as a bilawal, but they are at least at the same time, “he said. He reiterated the position of his party, however, that they do not want to destabilize the government and hope that the PML-N will return to its senses.
Another well -placed leader said they saw a nauseating game behind the media coverage of the rallies in the Sindh by local leaders. He said that a perception was created according to which the PPP would have agreed with this project, if opposite voices in the interior of the Sindh had not emerged.
He said that it is undeniable that the PPP took its time to access this situation and that it is a fact that the PPP had to change its speed in the province to counter emerging votes, but to affirm that the PPP would have allowed this exploitation of the resources of its people is a perception which is created to harm the politically.
He said that it was initially a challenge, because the opposition to the canal meant to oppose the establishment, but they have – the perpetuity of the PML -N – made it in an opportunity they collect.
He said that with the bilawal occupying the front of the question, Sindh attends another Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to do. He said that the exploitation of resources is a delicate subject for three smaller provinces and that Sindh water is a high sensitive problem.
He said that the PML-N policy was at stake because it will be the greatest loser if his government is sent packaging.
“The establishment is known to change horses in the middle of the street, and in this scenario, the replacement is already waiting in the wing. The PPP has the Sindh. What is the PML-N has other than the” saints blessings “. So before making fun of us, they should look inward to know their own value,” he added.
