- HP EliteBook 8 G1 offers modular parts for replacing quick equipment
- The battery, the fans, the SSD, the memory and the keyboard can be exchanged in a few minutes
- Self-aligned display and accessible components simplify repairs and upgrades
We are big fans of modular framework laptops, which allow you to choose the components you want, replace or upgrade parts, and even add personalized third -party modules, such as this drone destructive.
It is almost a surprise that other large manufacturers of laptops have not followed a similar path, but HP seems to have cotton this approach with its new Elitebook, unveiled today at Amplify 2025.
The EliteBook 8 G1 ready for the company, with an AMD or Intel processor, is designed to be easily repaired or upgraded, with HP saying that battery, fans, SSD storage and SODIMM memory can be exchanged in less than 10 minutes, and wireless LAN cards and the large M.2 mobile band are also fully accessible and quickly replaced. If that is not enough, the modular keyboard can also be deleted and switched, and the self-aligned display does not require single-use templates for replacement.
Redesigned inside and outside
HP says that the new EliteBook 8 G1 has been, “redesigned inside and outside”, offering up to 224% better energy efficiency. The 8 G1 series PCs are also made using a diverse range of recycled materials, including glass, cooking oil, rare earth magnets, magnesium, aluminum and plastic linked to the ocean.
There is a choice between new generation PCs AI (with 40–60 Npus Tops) and regular AI PCs (with less than 40 npus tops). They are available in G1A (AMD) or G1I (Intel) models, available in 13 -inch sizes (with welded memory), 14 inch and 16 inches.
All have a WUXGA display (1920×1200), a thinner chassis redrawn, a new silver color of glacier, a larger trackpad, a fingerprint reader in the power button, a double Thunderbolt 4 Ports, USB-C and USB-A options, HDMI 2.1 and support for Wi-Fi 6e, Bluetooth 5.3 or 5.4 and NFC Optional and smartcard. They support up to 64 GB of RAM and up to 2 TB of SSD storage.
There is no word yet on prices or availability for new models, but we must know it soon.
