- Avengers: Apocalypse will apparently include more MCU heroes than expected

A fresh Avengers: Apocalypse a leak appears to have confirmed that two more Marvel heroes will appear in the highly anticipated comic book film.
Promotional images for the Marvel film Phase 6, which appear to have been taken for a glossy magazine cover, were dropped yesterday (November 18) after an unknown source leaked them online. Considering that two of the photographs show characters who were not part of Avengers: ApocalypseThe initial cast of 27 people revealed in March, the photos all but confirm that these individuals will have a role to play in the penultimate film in the Multiverse saga.
Potentially huge spoilers immediately follow Avengers: Apocalypse. Don’t continue if you don’t want to know what other actors the film might star in!
The footage, which was shared on forums
As I mentioned earlier, neither actor has been announced as part of doomsdaythe original list from earlier this year. Larson and Cumberbatch’s Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) characters also have no solo films coming out in 2026, so the fact that they were professionally photographed for what appears to be a multi-page feature article strongly implies that they will appear in the next Avengers film.
What makes this leak even more fascinating is that Larson and Cumberbatch declined to comment and/or initially denied their involvement in doomsday.
In January, Cumberbatch revealed he would not attend doomsday. And, although he walked back that response a few days later (per Business Insider) to say that he was being part of his ensemble, some fans thought Cumberbatch was toying with them about his potential appearance.
Meanwhile, speaking on an October 2025 edition of The View, Larson answered a question about possibly participating in Avengers 5saying, “Thanks for asking and you know I can’t answer.”
Two weeks later, however, Larson got tongues wagging when, while voting in New York City’s 2025 mayoral election, she told her fans on Instagram to “ignore the wig!” (thanks to r/MarvelStudios for the screenshot). According to some, Larson’s hairpiece has be the one she wears when playing Captain Marvel, otherwise there would be no reason to cover her head.
If – and without confirmation from Disney and/or Marvel, it’s still an if – the duo is in doomsdaythis raises a big question about the film. That being said, how the hell Avengers 5 Juggling his now 29-strong cast and ensuring each individual gets enough screen time?
That’s before you consider the possibility that one of the most exciting new films of 2026 will also feature 31 characters. Featuring a former Spider-Man and a major villain who would also appear in Avengers: Apocalypseit’s increasingly likely that Marvel’s next team-up movie will be overloaded with characters – and, ultimately, I hope it’s not to the film’s detriment.
