- A new leak shows the Sony WF-C710N headphones in the smallest detail
- The specifications suggest a proximity sensor and ancient updates and the battery life lifespan
- The headphones could be launched in May 2025
Two years after the release of the Sony WF-C700N and at the top of the list of the best wireless headphones at the time, the electronics manufacturer seems ready to start again.
The Walkman blog obtained photos disclosed from WF-C710N headphones, alongside a multitude of specifications and advice on the price and a liberation window, apparently provided by “a source of confidence”.
This follows a previous design leak via a Taiwanese certification organization in January, but there are many more details this time.
The headphones are represented in four different colors – black, white, pink and a pleasantly retro transparent blue which shows the interior operation of the bud – alongside a loading case.
The WF-C710N headphones share the 5 mm pilots of its predecessor, IPX4 water resistance and support for the ANC, with some notable changes.
On the one hand, there is now a double microphone configuration for a more advanced noise cancellation, and a local sensor, hopefully, means that they will offer wear detection, which lacked the previous model. Bluetooth 5.3 is also included, from Bluetooth 5.2 in the latest model.
The battery life will also be slightly modified, the buds reaching 8.5 hours with activated ANC and 12 hours in total through the charge case, rather than the 7.5 hours of the buds and 15 hours in total thanks to charge of the previous model. It is an improvement in one direction, but one step back in the other – we may be pleasantly surprised and will discover that the total battery life is better than it seems.
The Walkman blog predicts a release window from May to the end of May, to an RRP from 110 to 120 $, around the same price as the previous model.
Improve perfection
In our WF-C700N review, Techradar’s audio editor, Becky Scarrott, wrote that “Sony took everything I loved in its most expensive headphones and squirrel in smaller headphones, at a lower price . You do not get the LDAC without loss or the high -level DSEE of the company, but for this money, the audio quality cannot be beaten today. »»
Although there are better headphones, this line of headphones is almost perfect for their price close to $ 100, and it is exciting to see Sony rely on this success with a new model. This seems to be an iterative upgrade, rather than a transformer change, but if it maintains the affordable WF-C710N headphones, we don’t have much to complain.
Let’s just hope that we get some of the most interesting colors of the WF-C700N, like Lavender or Sage Green, below.
