If you are an auto Android user like me, you will know that there is currently no support for video playback. However, video applications are now on the way to the software, with a useful adjustment for the times when your vehicle is in motion.
As 9to5google spotted, there is a new clip downloaded by Google on the Android Developers account: it displays the Android Automotive interface going to an audio mode only for videos during driving.
Android Automotive is the version of Android Auto that car manufacturers can integrate in their vehicles, no Android phone required. This platform already supports video applications, but only when the car is parked.
Finally, these same features should go to Android Auto on phones. Last week, we learned that video players “come soon” on Android Auto, so hope that audio reading only is not too far behind.

I can understand why it took a while for video applications to go to Android Auto because there is the danger of distracting drivers – and with the software running a phone, it is more difficult to detect when a vehicle is actually in motion.
However, I am happy that Google ends with the supply of video applications and an audio mode only. As a premium YouTube abundant, I watch a lot of videos, and have access to them in my car will add much more entertainment to travel.
Even with the disabled video, I can listen to live music concerts, video explanators, ambient musical mixes, video podcasts, interviews, and much more. Then, when I parked, I can also consult the strengths of football.
It is only developers for Android Automotive, so it can be significant before it reaches the general public version of Android Auto – but I will patiently expect to use it as soon as it appears.
